The Petty Thread
Posted 8/11/16 , edited 8/11/16
What petty things have you thought or done recently?

Here is an example of what I mean by petty: today I ate the last of the ice cream at my house not because I wanted it, but so that my older brother could not have it.

So... how about you? Do you tease the dog with your siblings' toys so that the dog chews them up? Do you watch annoying people on their phones walk into walls without warning them and feel deep satisfaction? Do you rub soap into your boyfriend/girlfriend's toothbrush after a fight? Are you a highly mature person who is above all that? Tell me, I want to know.

I've searched around a bit, but I haven't found a thread exactly like this in the Chit Chat forum.

The reason why you haven't found a thread like this may be because it's not something most people brag about.

Not bragging, just looking to hear some interesting or funny stories

Sometimes I eat snacks in front of children.

I'm not at all petty. Sometimes, I wish I could stoop that low, but I'm way too bound by my moral coding to actually do anything. Perhaps I'm afraid.

If my cats refuse to play with me - i pile the toys on them in a buck-a-roo type of game.

Many years ago my step brother and I didn't get along . We had this rule that said whoever was in the living room first got to pick what to watch. This way no one could just walk in and demand to watch something else. The only way to get the remote at this point was to have it handed over or for the other person to leave the room. One time I watched voting on CNN for hours (the most boring mind numbing thing I could find) just because I knew he was waiting for me to leave so he could watch something.

My friends and I are going out tomorrow, there's one person in our circle that I secretly hate... I intentionally did not tell her about tomorrow so she wouldn't come.

update: she didn't come and no one was looking for her. lmao. i guess i'm not the only one who didn't want her there.

Sometimes, when people in an otherwise reasonably-paced moving crowd are moving slowly because they've got their eyes glued to their damned phones/tablets/ereaders, I bump them (usually just lightly) as I walk past them even if I technically could have squished by without touching them.

I sometimes do the same when people are standing in a way that obstructs people passages. Do NOT stop right at the top of the stairway or escalator you inconsiderate #%$#@^$

Hmmm. Maybe this really belongs in the pet peeves thread.

I decided not to greet a close friend on his birthday because he doesn't reply to texts. It's a big deal to me because I usually don't text unless I have to. And I am goddamn busy but I never fail to promptly reply to friends, family and colleagues. So as a petty form of vengeance, I will ignore his existence as he did mine
