I'd like to ask a couple of questions about the gifting membership feature.

Would the gift membership feature be a way for someone who can't have a regular subscription to have a premium account and just regularly re-buy them if it's in their budget that month/in the next 3 month cycle?

So, say I can't (or don't want to) have a subscription where money regularly comes out of my bank account, but would like to support crunchyroll/have access to premium features in the months I can afford it, could I in theory gift it to myself and put in my email in the recipient box?

Or, similarly, say I give cash to a family member and they purchase it online as a one time payment in exchange, would they need a crunchyroll account themselves?

Finally, I see it says "Crunchyroll Gift Subscriptions recipients must be residents of a country in which Crunchyroll is authorized to operate the Crunchyroll service"; slightly confused here. Does this just mean if crunchyroll works in your country you can receive the gift membership? I'm in Australia in case it matters.

Thanks!

You can gift yourself a non-recurring membership by purchasing it in the Crunchyroll store. Just use your own email address as the recipient and the code will be sent to you. Here's a link to the one-month premium store page:

http://www.crunchyroll.com/store/p/163389/Premium-Membership-Gift-One-Month

There are links to other options at the bottom of that page.

One thing to note is that Crunchyroll sometimes makes the gift memberships temporarily unavailable for purchase during special store-wide sales--if that happens, just try once the sale is over. Also, while I'm not sure what the current situation is with 3-month and annual memberships, for a while those had been made mostly not available except during special times of year.

I'm pretty sure someone needs a membership in order to make purchases from the store. I just tried it myself while not logged in, and after I added things to my cart and chose "Continue" it brought me to a page where I either needed to login or sign up for an account. But if there's someone you'd ask to regularly purchase gift memberships for you, they could easily create a free account for doing that.
