Hi Everyone,

I have my windows 10 laptop hooked up to my hdtv through hdmi and watch Crunchyroll streams using firefox.

Recently, like within the past couple of months, the video through hdmi is choppy when panning. However, playing the same video on the laptop screen is completely smooth. I tried mirroring the display, and the video on the laptop is smooth, while at the same time, the video on the tv is choppy. Also, I tried playing local videos files on my pc and they are smooth on the tv. It seems like it is some kind of issue with the flash plugin, but I am not really sure. I tried enabling/disabling hardware acceleration in the flash plugin, but it didn't fix the issue. I also tried edge and chrome, and they also have the same issue.

Does anyone know if there is some way to fix this?

Have you tried doing the same with an HTML5 video, on say YouTube, and seeing if the playback is similar?

I just tried the html5 cr chrome extension and it is fixed over hdmi, with the same smoothness as the laptop. I guess I'll use that as a workaround until flash is fixed, if it ever gets fixed...

Just an update, in linux, flash on firefox is only getting security updates (11.2.202.637), while flash on chromium is actively updated like on windows (23.0.0.185). I tested the hdmi output flash video performance on my old linux machine, and the video is much smoother in firefox than in chromium. So this seems to be more evidence of an issue introduced in a more recent version of flash.

Another update, just installed the latest version of flash (23.0.0.207) and it looks like they finally fixed the issue. No frame drops or choppiness over hdmi.
