I prefer to lead by example. I'll do what I do at a high level and teach, delegate, and participate in the tasks at hand. This of course means when I cannot serve as a good example or at the very least have extensive knowledge on the topic I'm much more comfortable following someone who does. if I'm in a leadership position this is a prime opportunity to delegate and refer to someone who I know is knowledgeable and trustworthy.

You have to put people in the best position to succeed. Don't waste their talents.

Also on a bit of a darker note: In the past I've preferred being a follower but one that used manipulative wording and arguments (even if I knew it were flawed) to convince the leaders to do what I wanted. A violation of trust for sure... but I think that's a huge reason why I value trust so much today and tend to act more honorable.

One thing I will still stand for is that a good leader knows when to use forbearance when they recognize a rule is being restrictive in a way it wasn't intended. I'm honorable... but not necessarily lawful.

I'm quite happy to lead and have stepped up first in a number of situations at work. However I never want to Manage (/spit)

Can I just be that person who's off in the corner taking a nap? Neither leading or following, just taking a nap and ignoring both groups of people telling them to get up and do something?

Follower.
I'd make a bad leader, because I'm a very no-nonsense type of person, and I don't have the patience to deal with nonsensical people. Some would see that as tyranny I suppose.
But when I'm the leader, I get things done.

A follower for sure.
Any leader is bound to have a group of unhappy people; there is never a sense of unity. I would never have the patience to please every single person.

I want to be a leader, but I suck at it. So, I have no choice but to become a follower

people that don't have leader type of quality don't really have the option to choose leader. well they can choose it and then fail miserably.

they wont see the things leader can see. its like they are actually blind something needs to be done and they just don't see it. while to the actual leader its the most obvious thing in the world and it goes to the top of the list.

I hate it when I'm made to follow, I'm a leader all the way. It's not so much that I feel that I'm the best for the job, just that I'm too prideful to enjoy not being the boss.

I'm fairly good at organizing people and strategizing, but I'm not good at inspiring people or negotiating. I think I function best as a second-in-command.

So really I want to be the evil vizier.

I like to be a follower on the surface but control things from behind the scenes.

They're both pretty awful to be honest when both are completely unaware of themselves and the situation they are in when following or leading blindly, which is most of the time. With that said a good leader knows when to follow and a good follower knows when to lead, a hierarchy will most likely serve as a hindrance to what ever that group is trying to accomplish and leave people ignorant and powerless. I actually prefer neither unless the conditions are right.

Depends for work related stuff I'd rather be a follower. Just give me a paycheck and let me go home, I couldn't care less if I am the one barking orders. When it comes to adventure/mmos I prefer to be a leader. I suppose I am more of a reluctant one though, one way or the other it seems I am the one who keeps guildmates petty arguments from getting out of control, I'm a compromiser after all
