May I ask what kind of engineer? not to mention a classmate of mine named Kenneth has a father who works in electrical engineering and I don't really see how working on a wide range of components or devices and systems (such as tiny microchips or huge power station generators) has anything to do with being praised or valued too highly.

I worked at a local game shack and people dreamed about having my job. They glorified the aspect of it and always said something along the likes of "wow, I bet if you work here you would get free game-time and play games forever...". So yes, I did find it overrated

Also, I now work as a Starbucks barista and now it's the same thing over again... So yes, I would say jobs can be overrated.

Honestly, I don't fully understand your question. What do you exactly mean under "an overrated job" . Does it mean a high paying job? If yes, then business development jobs are overrated in some way. I've recently got one and I'm flying high above the sky!

A job that pretty much a lot of people want to have.

Yes, like prostitution. Very unethical, but a lot of people love to make money out of it.

You get paid a lot depending on the job.

As a software developer, I can confirm that this statement is correct.

Every job is overrated. Listening to someone talk about their job is not the same as living it.

Remember that you do this every weekday. It's pretty much the same every day. You can't get on with tasks properly because you have a phone, email and people coming to see you.

Work is like grinding in an MMO, necessary to gather resources, but repetitive and boring.

its easier for people who need the money or for whoever forced the person if that situation is so. And I wouldn't even say a lot love prostitution.

an "overrated" job does not necessarily mean a high paying job. In fact, it can even mean an underpaid job.

Overrated basically means people think highly of it, but it's not really as good as people make it out to be. Just like a "business consultant" or "financial consultant" << they just sound like highly-respectable jobs, but they're really made up of a bunch of recruited people who have sales experience or just good at talking out of their ass to tell clients about what to do with their business or money, without even actually having experience with it themselves.

if you give something a rating, it can become over rated
