One of my favorite anime's has been removed from the site and this isn't the first time it's happened. It was released in 2011 can anyone tell me why Crunchyroll would be taking anime's off the site

You didn't say which title, but I suspect it is one of the titles on this list:
http://www.crunchyroll.com/forumtopic-956853/outbreak-company-videos-missing?fpid=54149457

There were a large number of titles (which happen to be licensed by Sentai) which suddenly disappeared off CR. The short answer is that the license expired and wasn't renewed. As to why we weren't informed in advance, either they had passed the period of guaranteed availability and could be removed "at will" by the licensor(s), who suddenly decided to do so, or they were expired but expected by CR to be renewed (but such renewal was not permitted).

a suggestion, but maybe CR could inform users if a given series may expire. that way, people would be able to make a more informed decision on whether to use CR services or not. they'd be able to tell if they can finish a series or not.
if a series expired, maybe put the notice on the series page "sorry, but the license for this series has expired"

(notice that the buttons for watching and adding to queue are grayed-out. the series is unavailable, so those buttons should be grayed-out)

They do try to inform users when they're able to (look for threads titled 'Marathon time'/similar in the Site News section), but this specific case, CR needed to remove shows immediately and unexpectedly due to licensor requirements.
