True.

Anyway, ReZero gets pretty good when Subaru is being brutally murdered. He's a decent main character as far as being an average guy. I mean, below average guy who's getting a bit more loopy with each return from death. Entertaining like a rat in a maze.

It's not just you and I don't like this anime any more than generic 80s action stuff like Akira.

You can take literally any series that is moderately popular and say that it's overrated. Re:zero has flaws, but no worse than your average novel series that gets an anime adaptation. You either like it or you don't, objectively it has some issues, but it gets outweighed by its positives. Most of the issues just come from the fact that it's an incredibly lengthy novel series that has far too much content for it to translate well into a weekly tv series.

I can agree with others that Subaru is kinda useless. He's oddly useless too, we notice fairly early on that he seems to possess greater than normal physical strength but that doesn't really seem to be going anywhere. He can even use magic, albeit not magic that's not all that great for fighting but he has all these tools that seemed like they were going to make him more reliable. What he seems to be best at currently is dying.

Granted I don't know what could be coming, I stopped on episode 16 because things just got so dark and depressing I felt like taking a break.

it's one of the more interesting shows that is currently airing, but it's not exactly great. i've been watching it since the first episode, and enjoy watching it every week, but i wouldnt score it higher than a 7/10 at this point.

just like garo said , this debate happens over everything thats even remotely popular not just anime. this is why i keep what i like to myself and don't try to get others interested. its a waste of time to try to do so.

I haven't watched it, can someone tell me, in your best way possible, why I should even consider watching this anime?

If it is soo good, please, enlighten me.

As with most anime, stories or art for that matter, people are going to have their own interpretations about it.

For example, when SAO was all the rage in the anime community, I was one of the people who vehemently hated that show and as a result didn't really understand it's popularity. At the same time, Its not for me to say what people should or shouldn't watch simply because my opinions differ from them.

There are, however, objective things wrong with almost all shows and re: zero is definitely not above this either. If the story or characters or whatever can't capture your imagination enough for you to suspend your disbelief then it has failed at least for you. Normally, if you like the show's concept and characters enough you should be able to easily look past the smaller objectively silly details but if it's not really your thing, then you won't be able to easily do this.

Personally, I like Re: Zero; mostly because I enjoy the premise and the characters. It seems like you just don't like either of these things, in this case, which is fine. I think part of the reason Re: Zero is so popular right now is that there really aren't many shows competing for that popular shonen niche right now and Re: Zero fills that void. It also explores these popular troupes in a way that only a few other shows have up until this point which to me is again enough to draw me in.

Anyways the point is that you are probably not wrong in how you are thinking about Re: zero but there is really no point in justifying your opinions to others in this case because if you don't like it then you don't like it.

who gives a shit, watch it, if you like it keep watching it if you don't stop quit caring about who likes what. I've stalled on it but I will finish it. It is not my favorite show but it is fun and exciting to watch. You just get certain crowds of people who like certain things. Trends just come and go really... Sometimes it will be in your favor sometimes it won't. Overrated is just saying the trend I want isn't in style right now.

I enjoy the show. I'm interested in the motivation of the other characters, and why Subaru was given this random auto save ability/curse.

However, I understand why people would be annoyed by Subaru. It looks like he was wasting his life away in the real world, so naturally he would be utterly useless without the knowledge he acquires from his failures.
