So I finally gave this anime a try, being completely deaf to all the hype/hate around it. First 3 or 4 episodes were great but honestly when people say it's a "breath of fresh air when I see that it's not just some Goku-like character blah blah blah pretentious prententious", I really don't think there are a lot of anime with larger-than-life main characters anymore. In fact, I see so many anime where the protagonist will be that lame, average, high-school boy with the talented, smart, beautiful sister or something or the weak loser in the fantasy world who gets saved way too many times by girls in armor, the list goes on.
That whole Rem arc, I had no idea what any of that was, it was corny, cringey, cliched. I have no idea why the main character would even care about those two that much and why he's not angry at all. His personality seems to do complete 180s where he just does things that seem so sporadic. People say that he's a "flawed" character, I think he was in the first few episodes but I think he just became a "very poorly written" character. This is not a realistic human, this is a person who's mentally impaired. '
Vague plot details, story direction is all over the place, superficial relationships that have almost no foundation, character development is awful. I swear this is just a carbon copy of like 10 other anime I've seen. People, don't think you're some kind of erudite if you like this show, this is not a show that makes you think, this is a show for 12 year olds and pseudo-intellectuals. If this is your way of being mentally stimulated then that is incredibly sad, this is very basic drivel.
I dropped it at ep 13 when he just makes a fool of himself at the castle.

I just wonder how small a human being has to be to judge the people who like certain things? I think its impressive we all have different impressions on the same show. I personally thiught the show was wonderful. I enjoyed the dark storyline, a fairly twisted character developement and most of all the mystery. The entire series doesnt have holesin the writing the writter is leaving a cloak on it. What i dislike is being insulted because i liked it. As such i challenge you this. If you have ever insulted anybofy who likes a certain anime id like you to go walk to a mirror and ask yourself "what do i hate so much about me that i project it on my fellow man". Then fix yourself rather than being a ball of rage.

If we're being completely fair, then yes, liking the show does not make you some kind of erudite, and neither does disliking it.

Pretty sure I've already went on a rant in this thread, but my goodness I hated Re:zero, which is disappointing because of how much potential it had. Subaru and a lot of poorly put together story bits just destroyed everything the show had going for it.

Again, this all comes down to taste. Some of you might hate it to the core, while some others might believe it to be the best anime ever created. It's only a matter of taste, nobody can force you to believe it's a good show or not. I personally also think it was mediocre at best, but I can see why people liked it.

Gonna have to disagree.

Personally, I found Re:Zero boring. It wasn't terrible, but it was just....plain.

What I would have liked much more is if everyone's gender were flipped: a female Subaru and male Emilia, Ram, and Rem would have been fascinating. Throw in a male Satella and it gets really creepy.

Less drastic of a change would have been to have Rem respond normally to being rejected. Kind of like Re:ZERO meets White Album 2.

I still think switching everyone's genders would have made for a much better show. Then Betelgeuse could be best girl.

Re:ZERO has reached the point where I really don't think it's a bad show but Subaru frustrates me so much it's just not any fun to watch. I've seen through episode 15 and may never get any further because I keep scrolling past it in favor of other shows I'm having a lot more fun watching. Early on I really enjoyed it but every time I think Subaru is getting a bit of character growth he regresses again and I'm just not down for another 9 episodes of him like that (assuming if he hasn't had growth by now that he's not going to).

I think the show has a lot of great things going for it but personally the MC is ruining it for me.

The problem is there are so many shows (aka all of them) that someone could start a thread like this about.

AND this should have been discussed.. oh I don't know... in the Re:Zero discussion thread.

I think OPM is overrated as hell. It literally put me to sleep, twice, while trying to watch it. But, it was insanely popular and I give it it's credit. I don't have to create an entire different thread to express my feelings on the show.

I think it deserves the praise it gets. However, I definitely started to lose interest as the season went on. I felt like it had the potential to do a lot more than it did.

I'll disagree on both aspects. Anyone can post anything they want so long as it abides by the rules. I mean, if someone did post it in the discussion thread, I don't think it would have caught on as much as it did.

For OPM, with Shingo Natsume and a passionate team behind it all, I want to say that I felt nothing but passion coming from OPM. Even if you don't find the story good, I would imagine one would give props to the production at least. I believe sincere effort should be recognized here.

But hey, opinions and such.

I don't blame you if you hated the anime, but insulting the people who like it is incredibly unnecessary.

Re:zero is a pretty overrated show, and I wish fanboys/girls would quit praising it to high heaven when it's just a little different from the other light novels on the shelf. Still, it kept me interested enough to keep watching to the end and collect the novels, that's all that matters to me.
