Are you saying it's too dialogue heavy, bio???

Yeah.

Lol I admit, you didn't explicitly say that was a bad thing

Oh well, you made it into my status message nonetheless

You would think Urobuchi's name would be a heavy draw though

Hiroyuki Sawano does the music? No wonder I feel the similar vibe.

Because they talk and talk and talk and talk...

This is actually probably my biggest issue with it as well. I don't mind dialogue heavy shows at all in general but the puppet presentation just doesn't work for me or look good when it's mostly talking. Plus, it highlight for me just how jarring the name translations are.

I don't hate the show or anything, and the puppet aspect actually makes me more rather than less interested, but I definitely wouldn't hold it up as anywhere near best of season.

To be honest, I skipped over it because from the thumbnail it looks like a live action show. I just assumed it was one of those live action shows that occasionally sneak their way onto the anime listings. I had no idea it was puppets...

Unless you are really familiar with Urobuchi's name and probably his work with Madoka specifically, his involvement won't make much of a difference to people who only know a handful of "popular" titles that seem to get all the coverage. Its a shame CR hasn't featured it on the main home page where it might garner more interest.

Personally, I think it is one of the better things to come out this summer, because it is so dramatically different. As a long-time fan of the wuxia genre, I was sucked right in as it is very similar in tone. The costumes and the special effects, particularly the sword fights are outstanding. I don't know what the ratings are in Japan, but looking at all the merchandise and promotion that has been (and is still being) done, it must be doing well. Hopefully, this isn't the end and that another series will be made.

Yeah, it may not be exactly anime (i wonder why it's in the anime) but i think i could check it someday. Shouldn't be too bad.

Love TF, and I eagerly look forward to each ep. Especially since I do miniature effects myself - some stuff they pull off in practical is amazing. Would love more BTS vids. And the story is surprisingly mature and complex.

That said, I agree with two of the above commenters - the lack of lip movement in most scenes is irksome. The puppets can move their lower lip, but it generally isn't done. Even Gerry Anderson ( Thunderbirds) knew to have a solenoid in the mouth to keep the lip movement happening during dialogue.

And while I may be a bakka gaijin the traditional Chinese names in the subs are difficult enough without the additional weirdness of their being pronounced in a way that is unrecognizable by the cast. I overlook it because I like the show, but it would have cost nothing to simply use easier names and have them match the audio. I literally have no idea what the characters names are even now - they're all just "cool sword guy" and "cute girl" and "white-haired pipe dude" and "brash spear guy" to me.

So I can sort of understand people being turned off after a bit. It's a shame because I really want the show to do well. I'd like to see more.
