You are immortal. You can be temporarily wounded, but cannot ever actually be killed by violence. You can die at any time of your choosing.

How long would you want to live for, what would you do, and why would you decide to die?

I would live as long as it takes to take over the world, or until I realize it's hopeless to try for that. I'd probably keep living anyway, after the desire for power phase. I suppose only intense and seemingly unending boredom would push me to choose to die. I'd probably try to live for 2,000 or so years.

Along the way I would enjoy watching technology advance, and seeing what kinds of things humanity has to go through in its growing pains. I would try to educate myself as much as possible, with no rush to learn quickly, that is unless I could use the knowledge to gain power. I'd try to get to professional level with videogames and sports. I probably wouldn't go into the military.

If you're interested in this topic, and like Final Fantasy games, you should play Lost Odyssey for Xbox 360. Make sure to read the short stories ("dreams") that come up as you go.

Infinity. I do understand that I would be driven mad but that's part of the fun.

You must not know suffering very well. There's a period between mad and sane, where you're just a sane person suffering so much that you can't handle it. And this period probably lasts for quite a while.

As someone who knows it well and has been driven to the point of suicide multiple times and trying to kill someone more then once....its something you live through.

even if you want to die your body refuses to allow itself.

I could try stab myself for instance and my hand would stop even if i want to do it.

I've had physical agony but not a lot of emotional agony, I look forward to the experience ;).

300 years sounds like a much better plan than my 2,000. But I guess I would have lust for power driving me.

"I would live forever no matter how much pain or insanity or bordem." You seem to believe you're invincible.

"your perception of time would probably get screwy" This has to be true. I know ages 5 to 18 took fucking forever, and ages 18-26 went by in a blink. Maybe 200-300 would go so fast you'd say "eh, what's 100 more years".

My theory on suicide is that the only way to actually do it, is to be driven by more desperation than 99.99 percent of people have ever remotely known. I've got 4 scars on my arm from an attempt, and the only thing that stopped me was the brick wall of pain at the artery. I realized the only way to die from cutting, would be to die in agony. Only desperation could push you to choose that.

Your tolerance for suffering does increase as you suffer, so maybe you'd be fine. Fine and badass stoic.

Perception of time is unique to each person though iirc so some people have the same perception since birth.

I'm thinking now that you'd get addicted to life.
Also, what if you started doing hard drugs? 2,000 years craving cocaine and heroin.. would not be fun, but on the other hand you couldn't die from them. Most people would do drugs at some point during immortality I'm sure, now that I think about it.

Now if someone fuckin' tells me, "I'd never do drugs, ever, literally not in a million years" ....I'm gonna ..STRONGLY doubt that claim. Followed up with "God, young people are stupid."

some of us wouldn't

The thought of it is tempting but knowing the permanent damage if your going to live for longer then 1000 years....its best to keep your brain safe

I forgot to take into account the fact that, if you're immortal, you're looking at consequences stretching far into the future. (I forgot to take it into account in the angry portion, but I had just brought it up moments before that. A blunder.) But if nothing else, once you're certain that you want to die soon, you're definitely gonna drug out. Unless you forget to, or just never have this idea.

Oh, and any brain damage from drug use would heal, since all your wounds are temporary. I don't know if addiction would heal though. If it would heal, I'd be going on a drug binge annually.
