Always wondered how to approach this topic without coming off as a weirdo but I decided to finally just go for it. My name is Austin Steinhauer and I am wanting to get in contact with and hopefully befriend someone who lives in Japan or someone who visits frequently. I am 21 years old and would like a travel companion and maybe even a new lifelong friend.

Some information about me:

As stated above I am a 21 year old male. I have been very interested in Japanese culture and has always wanted to go and visit Japan. I am a bit scared to go alone so I have always thought it would be great to become friends with someone who lives or visits in Japan frequently.

*If anyone is interested you can contact me here on Crunchyroll. I am willing to answer any questions about myself or my intentions. Thank you!

I have a basic understanding of the language and have been to Okinawa with the military. Should have been more clear with my original post sorry. I understand the language situation will be a dilemma but I figured I would still post this up because you never really know who you will meet.

To be frank I'm not sure there are that many Japanese people on this site so I can't say you'll have much luck but I hope I'm wrong, just try not to sound like a weeb, probably scare em off

Yeah I honestly just thought I would throw this out there and see what kind of replies I would get. I figured it would be a bust, especially on this site given the community.

Hey brother I'm going back to Japan in April again, or at least the plan is to unless something comes up. We need a 4th for or group just in case you're interested on tagging along. I have some pictures of my last trip in my profile if you want to look at them. We'll be traveling to tokyo again but this time we'll be renting a car and going to mt Fujii. We'll most likely be there for 10 days again. We also met a couple of beautiful girls *wink *wink if that's what you're also interested in. We went to temples, museums, Akihabara, club sega, pachinko places, bars, he'll we even went to the zoo. And we'll probably check out the same places as we're bringing a friend who hasn't been to Japan.

Actually there's enough english in Tokyo to get by, just keep in mind that you use the train station to go anywhere, carry around pocket wifi for google maps, you can use Family Mart to eat Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner, they have really good healthy meals there.

Its mofuggin hot in August, so bring loose clothing, people stand on right and left sides of the sidewalk depending on which direction you walking so stay in that lane most of the time,

If you're ordering food just point at what you want on the menu, most of them know basic english and are willing to help if you're super lost

If you want to move their use AirBnB, I ended up living next to a bunch of love hotels in Shibuya but ayyyy it was CHEAP, plus it was a nice apartment, and I was about 3 blocks from Shibuya crossing (and UNIQLO they sell some sick stuff there)

Bring your passport everywhere so you don't get taxed when buying stuff.

Having a Japanese contact or more seasoned travel companion is a very good idea, and is a common recommendation. Although I do have relatives there (through an uncle's marriage), I'm afraid that I cannot approach them with this sort of thing out of the blue. Best of luck with your endeavor!

Meeting some one Japanese is just to say hi and get to know each other but the language is a must its there native form of communication after all or meet some one who lives in the states who is japanese but it depends on were you live.

Me personally my next door neighbors are Japanese and if i wanted to meet more japanese people there are communities here were Japanese people can go to like Japanese restaurants or there festivals they some times throw here.

Japan guide is a really good website to find a penpal or someone willing to do language exchange. I'd search there.
