I'd say yes as far as when you go to anime conventions so many different types of people go to them now. You have all different ages and just as many females as males now, nerdy looking people and non nerdy looking(or seeming) people, etc
But overal i'd say no. Just like with everything you are always going to get the elitists, the judgmental, the fakes, the stuck up snobs, the weirdos, etc
Some people that are into anime think they're so smart and so much better than everyone else lol. And it's like if you're not as nerdy or geeky or as educated as them you're not one of them.
I've experienced this at anime forums and at conventions you can tell sometimes there is a real group of insiders running it. Like an in group.
But it also goes the other way. Now that anime is so mainstream (compared to what it was) you might get people that are into anime that might be people that act like they're too cool for school and judge other anime fans even though they themselves are into it.
Like i've seen people at conventions (not many but some) laugh at people who's costume may not be the best but i mean they're at the convention also and the person who is dressing up is most likely having more fun and at least has the guts to do it.

Just shit like that. It's the same with everthing. Like i go to hip hop concerts and as with anime, you all have something in common and can all relate and all get along but there's always people who think they're top shit.
At hip hop concerts its more people who think they're hard or tough or a gangsta as opposed to anime fans at times thinking they the most nerdy and educated and intelligent lol.
In everything people think they are the most knowledgeable and look down on others who are not on the same level of hardcore fandom as them

EDIT: Oh and anime makes some people real dirty old perverts.

No, probably not. Not everyone is going to like anime.

I love anime, but I'm going to say no. Of the 7000,000,000+ people on the planet I doubt every single one of them could enjoy anime. Hell, I'd say music would have a more widespread appeal but there are still people who don't even like music. Same goes for books, films, everything. You can't get that many people to all be brought together by the entertainment of a single medium.

Eat Arby's.

Have you seen the numerous people who go out of their way to call anime fans weeaboos? The meaning has been twisted so much by society, that if you even have a profile picture of an anime, you're automatically deemed a weeaboo and various other names. In short, no way. Anime is still looked upon by a lot of people as something that's cringey, weird, and overall something that's out of what they call the norm.

In my opinion, at least it's not something involving ponies...
