I was wondering if an app for the Amazon Fire ecosystem is currently in the works.
The devices have been out for quite a while now, and though it's possible to sideload the Android app through adb - that's far from ideal. The app's UI is messed up (seems to display portrait mode on a landscape TV), you can't pause a show, you can't skip ads.

I LOVE Crunchyroll and I hope this is something that can be worked out soon.

I'm curious if CR's Android TV app would work if you could find a reputable APK for it. That would certainly not have any issues of putting up a portrait display, and the UI overall should be more appropriate.

That said, as a premium user you shouldn't have to "skip ads" (as there would be none) if you were signed into your CR account on the app, even on the one meant for mobile devices.

Interesting, I'll indeed try the Android TV app if I can find an APK. Hopefully it works better!

And I was indeed not logged in when trying it. After logging in the ads aren't an issue, however I still can't pause and can't go into the show's episodes list (since there's only the "tap" action which plays the episode).

Unfortunately I couldn't find an Android TV apk, so that was a no-go.

No luck on my end, either. Given that, I wonder if the Android TV implementation is indeed a separate APK, or if CR just modified their Android app to recognize when it is running on an Android TV device and adjust accordingly.

One could try installing the APK for the Google Play Store for Android TV (which does appear to be available) and use that to download the CR app, but if it isn't actually a separate APK, the result would be the same.

I'm using the Crunchyroll App on Kodi which i sideloaded with adb. Works like a charm on my FireTV Stick.
