What are you like during and after work?
Posted 9/2/16
Assume a healthy level of stress at your job or a day of yardwork or anything that's work-like.

What is your attitude like? Mood? How hard do you work? Do you pace yourself evenly, have massive but short bursts of high energy work, do nearly nothing or completely raise hell the whole day?

What about after work? Are you exhausted? Do you like to get more things done while you still have some momentum or do you go straight home and sit down and relax?

For me, I start off slow and just keep getting more energetic as I work, and my mood gradually gets better as I go. By the end of the day/night, I'm bouncing off the walls and happy as can be and I don't understand it. When I'm done, I'm left feeling jittery and oddly unfocused. I'm louder, more impulsive, and usually in a better mood than if I hadn't worked. I'm less precise with my movements and things like that as well. It might sound a little more dramatic than the effects really are.

I'm assuming it has something to do with brain chemicals or something. It's weird and I don't really like thinking about it.

I have a pretty stressful day but I try not to show it too much. I work full time, have a Saturday job, and I go to college full time so it's pretty hectic during the day. Typically if my day starts late, I like to watch anime or read manga and just relax. Same goes if I end early. It's tough but I'm used it. I'm in my senior year so once I'm finished I feel like I'll have more time for myself.

Surprisingly hardworking and productive during work, but totally unorganized at home.

Stress levels at my job vary wildly depending on how much goes wrong and what goes wrong. Yes, Murphy, something always goes wrong. Some parts of the day are more stressful by nature as well, since there are a number of critical processes that have to be completed at certain times (come hell or high water).

My shift will usually start out pretty high stress, and then either continue to get worse as I miss lunch and work extra hours putting out fires, or it will quickly wind down to a mind-numbing sense of monotony. It's been years and I'm still not sure which is worse.

As for my attitude at work, I try to be friendly (if somewhat distant) with everyone and do my best not to get involved in any of the office gossip or feuds. I never swear, I volunteer to help with things and try to maintain an extremely professional appearance and level of productivity.

At home I'm exhausted. I swear all the time, drink like a fish, put off errands and chores as long as possible and will happily pass out half-naked on the couch.

Me too. I crash after work if I don't have an activity immediately after.

At work I'm apparently too lax in attitude and look unmotivated and I personally think but I would say that's just how I look even when I'm not working, I honestly don't work very hard cause I really don't see the point but I do get the things I need to do done in a timely manner. I don't really get bored at work even when I don't have anything to do. When I get home I'm rarely exhausted or even tired unless I had to work till night which is rare. I usually just make something to eat, do whatever I have to do like wash clothes or dishes and just get on the computer and mess around till I have to go to sleep.

At work I'm always doing something. I stay focused and always find something to do. I stay quiet and do my work.

At home, I'm the opposite. I just can't be bothered to do anything if I don't have to.

Going to work is usually the only time I don't feel sad.

I might have a minor form of depression. If anything, I have a lingering sadness.

I try to not let anyone at my job know how I really feel. I try to always be just a nice person and not bring them down to my level. Though, most of the time I cheer up when I'm at work. Takes my mind off things.
