You don't need a whole lot of space to have enough extra food, water, and basic medical supplies. Even if you live in an apartment, you can still store a lot to keep you going for a long time. Want to be prepared? Keep a small knife and lighter with you at all times. Just those two tools will help you survive so many possible scenarios. I've been taught since I was five to find plants for medicine and food. That's just one of the skills I have. I always buy lots of can goods and dry goods like flour, sugar, rice. I keep things in plastic containers or buckets. Water can be easier to get than most think. Depending on the situation, the average family has around a 50 gallon water heater in their house. You can fill a bath tub with water before hand if you think you are going to have your water supply cut off. A fifty gallon rain barrel isn't that expensive. Water can sometimes be the easiest thing to get a hold off.

Those TV shows have some good basic information in. Prepping is just the new fad term for something that a lot of us have always done. You are not some crazed person if you sit and think about what might happen and try to set up a plan of action to use if it does happen. As others have said here, it's better to have something and not need it than to need it and not have it.

There's this big wall they prepared.

I see all these kids training hard every day so they can survive the incoming apocalypse.

Apocolypse happens. This is the guy who spent the most time preparing. Dug a home made bunker, told everyone to have a shotgun and samurai sword with the zombie survival guide as his bible.

Meanwhile, I'm here eating potatoes all day still alive to see more arc's than you. Sleepin' like a baby cause I ain't stressin' bout no bullshit.

For the idiots that don't know we are currently UNDER wartime conditions:

—Under Obama, the United States has been at war for 2,687 days. That's longer than under George W. Bush — or any other U.S. president, for that matter. —Obama has conducted airstrikes on seven countries: Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Somalia, Yemen, Libya and Syria.

According to the internet, the United States has been at war almost continuously for 222-236 of 239 years. If you accept that as true, then not being under 'wartime conditions' is more unusual. So our beloved four term President, Franky D., would still hold the record for wartime conditions length.

Saw a magazine dedicated to bugging out. Thought of this thread.

Under wartime condition, is when the country actually goes to wartime economic and military footing. Running small scale operations against countries, with no definable political objective, that have no realistic means of retaliation is not going to war. It's usually just sticking our (americans that is) collective noses where they neither belong or are wanted.
