JoJo's Bizarre Adventure is by far and away my favorite. I realized this when they introduced Iggy in Stardust Crusaders: Egypt Arc. When I saw him I realized this anime up until this point had fulfilled every desire I had in an anime. I always had a dream that if I hit the lotto I'd commission an anime. After watch that episode I no longer had that dream because I realized I was watching the anime I would have made unfold before my eyes.

Hmmmmm. Good question. I don't know if I've reached that point yet. I guess with me it's when I realized that Dog and Scissors was turning every anime trope on its head. But it's in my top 5 and I don't know if I can say my most favorite ever.

I'm not even sure myself. I always debated which one would be my favorite anime, and in the end it is Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. I guess it became my favorite when I realized how well the author wrote the story. Everybody has perfect characterization and a clear purpose in the story, so no character is ever wasted. The story was epic and I can't think of any plot holes whatsoever, even though there are some Deus Ex Machina moments but those are not the same as plot holes. And it has what the majority of anime lack: an actual ending. Every single aspect of the story is given it's proper conclusion by the end, and it is very satisfying.

Well, Puella Magi Madoka Magica was only twelve episodes long. I realized it was my favorite after finishing the series. I've re-watched it more than any other anime.

Before that, Ranma 1/2 and Urusei Yatsura were pretty much tied as my favorites.

So much of Puella Magi Madoka Magica is amazing, but in particular I like pretty much everything about Sayaka - she's basically Kierkegaard's knight of infinite resignation. When you start seeing Kierkegaard in an anime you know it's good.

When you can re-watch an anime and never get tired of watching it.

One Piece

When it got to the Alabasta arc, that's when things started to get interesting and I really liked the sense of adventure and friendship

Every time i watch an anime something inside me happens. If i don't like it i get annoyed and stop right away, if i like the anime then ill continue watching it and enjoy it, now when i love an anime i will literally start to shake from excitement, happiness or whatever and when that happens that's when i truly know an anime is my favorite. It has happened about 4 times with anime. No game no life, Food wars, Re:zero and Monogatari series. I can normally tell an anime is going to be my favorite from episode 1. A Truly amazing anime is amazing from the beginning.

Kill la Kill, probably when they introduced Nui Harime, AKA the pink crazy girl with one eye. Up until that point it was still a solid anime, but not my favorite. Everything past that point is just so damn awesome though, I couldn't get enough.

Jojo's is a close second though

Katekyo Hitman Reborn because I was way more depressed than usual when I finished the anime.

It's normal for me to get depressed after I finish a good anime, but I kinda watched 200 or so episodes in 3 or 4 days, so yeah, I got really attached and got sad at the end.

Interesting question. Well, Yu Yu Hakusho was already my favorite anime at the time, since I was young and hadn't seen very many, but the moment it was pretty much locked in as my favorite was when it got to the Dark Tournament. I thought to myself: "Wait a minute, so this already amazing show with its badass action and kickass characters and their awesome dynamic with each other is going to have an honest-to-god Mortal Kombat tournament?!" The resulting adolescent nerd boner was so hard it could've been used for commercial logging. I love me a good ol' fashioned tournament, and YYH did it amazingly. After that, it was pretty much assured nothing was gonna top it in my heart.

I honestly still don't really know my favorite, but I only realized about the one that I think is my favorite when I started ranking all the animes I've watched.
