So people who commit suicide aren't in the wrong?

Even if life doesn't get better, that doesn't mean there is no reason to live it.

Well, Trump is by far the most accepting of the LGBT for a serious Republican candidate. Instead of being against it, he is either in vague support of it or just doesn't care.

It gets better. As an adult you have much more control over who is in your life. In school you don't have much of a choice. For those in school, you will be very surprised to find how different life is away from school. It's all you really know. You will also be surprised how unimportant it becomes, yeah even grades...even though right now it feels like life or death.

You guys have it rough. When I was a kid you could shut lots of stuff because there weren't cell phones and social media. Now you can't hide. It almost like crap chases you. Try to shut it down if you can. Worse thing we all do is put to much value in other people's opinion of us. We are lucky to be alive. Trust me it's short enough. Enjoy the gift you were given.

Hey and you can be old and enjoy anime!

It really does get a lot better.

For me life did indeed only seem to get better and better and better for a time but then for me that stopped. I think once you've been working for almost 20 years and you're in your mid thirties life starts to feel alot less exciting and more just repetition and like a struggle.
That's not to say that life is all bad or completely sucks. Just that i find that life isn't really exciting anymore and often feels like a challange because when you get older life pretty much just is all about working and paying rent/mortgage and bills and taxes.
Plus when you get older, not only are alot of things not as exciting or enjoyable as they once were but you feel and look less good physically. Hang overs get worse, you dont have as much natural energy, get injured more easily. put on weight if you dont put alot of effort in, etc.

Admittedly though, i think in some ways i have not taken the next step in life i guess. Like i've done the whole leave school, get a job, later get a better job, move out of home, move house several times and all of that.
I went through the period when you're young and go out more, going out drinking and getting out there all of that. But even that becomes very samey.
I guess i never did the whole serious long term relationship or marraige or have kids thing.
Hard to tell if that would make life better or not though?
I could travel more, change my life style more, i could put more effort into trying and experiencing new things, into my fitness and etc. So i guess sometimes its up to you to make things better.
But life and other people often find a way to fuck you.
There are probably some people in my life that i should try and get away from also.
So i guess there are alot of things that we can do to make things better. And sometimes we need some luck or help.

As far as getting over tough times and hardships, i do believe that it dose get better. Time often dose heal. Like getting over the loss of a loved one and that.
But life really dose just remain an effort and struggle. Being modern day slaves n all.

It depends on the the outlook someone takes on life. For me, sure, it can always get better...or worse. For a pessimistic person, it may truly be a false hope.

Personally, I believe people should just suck it up and live on, but if someone thinks life is so terrible that it can not possibly get better, they are entitled to that belief.

A word of caution when thinking about things like this. I'm old enough to know that negativity feeds on negativity. Life is only as bad or good as you want it to be. Stuff happens that sends a day or a week or longer to go south for you, your family or others. Deal with it and move on with the stuff that make you feel good or enjoy life (Legally). It's entirely up to you. If you want to think in the terms; will life get any better, then you're setting yourself up to think little good happens and it may leak into your personality and/or attitude and can also affect your surroundings and how people see you. All or none of what I just typed applies to anyone, just my $.02. I suppose

I'm two days out of having a scope sent into my heart to look for blockages (heart cath). I don't see it as something that's going to make my life worse. I refuse to feel sorry for myself and send my views into a negative downward spiral.

Beautifully said. I always try to look on the bright side of things when I'm depressed and it makes me feel better than just being content with my sadness

I don't think it does. I personally hold to the notion that the "difficulty" of life is static, that it neither gets better nor worse. More or less, like playing an open-world game with only one difficulty setting and a ton of variables that influence each player's experience.

If you are a humble person, then it gets better.

If you are greedy like me and most people, things will never get better. Have you ever read that story about a goldfish granting a fisherman any wish he wanted? Eventually his wife forced him to ask the fish to grant him to become gods, and the fish got angry and took all their wealth away so they ended up being poor before meeting the stupid fish.

Anyway, the moral of the story is, I am like that wife of the fisherman, I will never be content no matter what I'm given. I will always want more out of life, when I got something I get bored with it, I'm aware of this, but you can't change your nature, just like a cheater/liar/thief can't change theirs.

It. Gets. Better.

Yes, it does. This is coming from someone who has battled major depression since they were 10.

I realize there are cases that go against this, but that doesn't change the fact that there is SO MUCH more to life than the hardships. It's easy to think that it will never get better when you are young, but the only way you find out for sure is by living to see for yourself.

Keep going, it's worth it.
