'Better' is entirely subjective. Life is a constant flux if ups and downs. For people feeling as low as to consider suicide, generally yes life does get better. How it gets better varies pretty wildly with situations, support, and personal growth.

Yes, it does. This is coming from someone who has battled major depression since they were 10.

I realize there are cases that go against this, but that doesn't change the fact that there is SO MUCH more to life than the hardships. It's easy to think that it will never get better when you are young, but the only way you find out for sure is by living to see for yourself.

Keep going, it's worth it.

This is out of the blue but thank you. Lately, I feel pretty pathetic and mopey because there's someone I can't help and I'm lost about it. So I kinda of express it here though it doesn't help me that much but this makes me feel more hopeful that they can push through their situation.

Of course, I'm glad that I can help.

I tell this to a lot of people who go through the motions. You will never know if things will ever truly get better unless you stick around to see. And in most cases they do.

It depends on you and your life choices. If it gets worse then you simply aren't fixing the problems in your life. And if it gets better then that's just evidence to the fact that you've learned from the past mistakes and moved on from there.

A question like that already implies negativity, so I don't really understand what's the point in asking.

There is always good in life and in this world. Things don't get "better" because it's never really all bad. It just depends on your own perspective and which parts of your life you put the most focus on. Your life is only bad if you drown yourself in self-pity. That's just the way I think of it.

So, does life really get better in the end

Not all by itself, no. What gets better is you.

When I was young I got in a lot of fights. Now I almost never get in fights. But that didn't just HAPPEN. I took a bunch of martial arts classes and lifted a bunch of weights. The world did not magically say "you have been in enough fights." I just made myself into someone nobody wants to fight.

That's the real key. You are capable of transformative change. Once you know what change you want and how to make it, you can make that change and be that person.

Or not. Some people don't. But you can't exactly MAKE them.

I always felt like I was behind. I didn't really have a great upbringing but you can either choose to let that stop you from achieving your goals or you can go out there and do what needs to be done so you can live a life that's worth it.

There's nothing you can do except accept what happens, so there's really no point in speculating about whether life will be better or worse in the future.

Life is what you make of it. If you are better, life gets better. If you are worse, life gets worse.

Plato/Socrates observed that true happiness isn't really in the moment, but a sum cumulation of life events. While the present may suck, or just seem to suck, it is in looking back that one can hold true happiness. Live life to its fullest, but not to excess.
