I think that we can't deny the fact that Red Sprite became a little "no one cares" series. After the first 3 or 4 chapters, I read it with difficulty, and I would ofter leave some pages, then read another series, and then return to finish after 1 or 2 days. (Of course this is my personal opinion, the series had a very original setting, but the way that Yagi-sensei supported it was very poor)

I pretty much agree wholeheartedly. The guy just really does not seem cut out for manga, I honestly don't know why he still gets work.

I think so as well, but I don't want to be so harsh. He should find a story writer in order to work just as the illustrator

They are not something awesome. But with the right story and the right number of assistants, he could make a satisfying manga. He knows how to draw, that's the first step

The first step is knowing how to draw, which he can do, but even still I don't have much faith in him as a mangaka. Red Sprite was his second manga and it looks pretty amateurish. Particularly with the amount of blank space, as Tanjirokun pointed out. Granted I didn't read the last few chapters so it may have improved without me knowing, but I wouldn't really bet on it. He can probably improve a lot more, but sadly manga is a pretty competitive market, and with his level of artwork I think he will be passed by in favor of other creators in the future. Although Iron Knight did last longer than Red Sprite so maybe the latter is just unrepresentative of his talent.

Well I can't disagree. It would be good if he made a comeback like Tabata did

Well it was a very original series. But it lacked something...even after reading it I still can't what went wrong. It is really worth the time

So yeah, I finished reading this a few days ago...

14 chapters in total? Really, I am disappointed because this had so much potential with the war conflicts, characterization, politics, and world building. Seems like Shounen Jump axing certain series is becoming a common trend recently.

I finished reading Red Sprite and went back and finished reading Iron Knight as well. I have to say...

I hugely disagree with this. I think the reason we'll very likely see a third series from him is because the editors are likely seeing a lot of potential in him. I think part of the problem is that his concepts are solid, but they are too advanced for his current writing and drawing ability.

Comparing Iron Knight and Red Sprite though, the art in Red Sprite is vastly improved over IK. If he comes out with another series, it will likely be improved even more.

I think if he were paired with the right editor or possibly a writer, then we might be able to see a great work from him. I feel like he's so close to being an excellent manga creator and having a really popular series.

Well I don't want him to not improve of course. The more good manga the better, but I'm just not sure manga is really that far up his alley. Hopefully I''m wrong and he does improve though. And you know, maybe he just needs a different magazine. I mean if you're in Shonen Jump you're going to be compared to some of the best manga of our time. Maybe if he got to cut his teeth in a smaller mag he could get more than a dozen chapters in and would thusly get more practice leading to improvement. Of course that's just a thought from someone outside the industry...

They have been like that for over 30/20 years... The series was could have been good but it just did not have the thing in manga that I like to call "IT." Potential and reality are to different things. Also art work is vary important in JUMP and I think this came done to NEVERLAND just being better over all and also Jump's DEMO is a little older then they where 10 years ago. Also we don't know what manga they had at the meeting that may replace it.

Yeah, not sure where you've been, but this is nothing new. Funny how people are now starting to pay attention after what happened to Bleach.

??

Bleach wasn't axed. Sure the ending was rushed to hell but it didn't have the fate like Red Sprite. I'm not sure why you're naming that as an example?

I mean that it's funny how people like you haven't been paying attention to how Shonen Jump is doing things until now. As in, when the whole outcry of western fans happened when Bleach got rushed; this is when a lot of western fans started paying attention. News flash, Shonen Jump didn't just start a random purge of cancelling series, it's been like this for several years now. In fact, this year has been very weak in cancellations compared to other years. Red Sprite lost its spot to The Promised Neverland as well as Love Rush.

Not really finding the joke here. Maybe you interpreted what I said in a different way? When you mention "people like you", I implied that you mention I'm completely uninformed about how Shounen Jump title works.

I know certain series from Shounen Jump gets axed a lot but I expressed that I was disappointed that Red Sprite got axed/cancelled, not surprised. I only mention the thing about trend because it's because it's been happening a lot, maybe I should of excluded the word, "recently".
