The family got a jack russel terrier.

He was an asshole

Thats about it! First and last time to have a small Terrier, because those dogs are meant to hunt and be assholes to bigger animals.

but at least we gave him a cool name, we called him Balto, straight from the movie Balto, and I guess it was an actual real dog that just got turned into a movie xD, fun fact, but our Balto was still an asshole, so I guess the name didn't really do any justice. He lived to be about 17, but one of my uncles practically took ownership of him, that damn dog was immortal, that dog has been attacked to a bloody pulp out in the woods, but still survived, and may other things, fuck this just got depressing.

Good movie though For a bunch of animated talking dogs.

It wasn't really my pet he was a stray but he visited me everyday so I consider him my first pet. He was a dog same breed from the main dog from Oliver and Company idk the name of the breed.
He would always show up at the same time every day to play and eat and such, one day he was crossing the street but some dick was speeding and didn't have time to stop and he hit the dog.
I cried and cried since he was more or less my dog and pretty much a friend to all the children in the neighborhood. We buried him in our backyard even though he wasn't ours we thought of him as a family member.

Deer head chihuahua, named "Scruffy." Very calm and quiet for a chihuaha, and had a gruff and surprisingly deep bark (by chihuahua standards). Deep brown and short coat, with white running down his underside from his chin to his tail. Had him for roughly thirteen years, and passed away when I was twelve. I grew up with Scruffy. Scruffy was never neutered, though he only fathered one litter. We had him "put down," since complications with his age became really, really bad. Damn, do I miss him.

a cat named houdini. named so for her disturbing ablity to hid among my stuffed animals and never move. damn creepy. also would stare at me in my sleep, willing me to wake. or randomly launch herself at my face and bit my nose. i swear, she was bipolar with a touch of magic. used to walk with us a mile to walmart, then wait for us to get out, then walk back.

The first pet that I actually bought and owned was a daschund that I named Roscoe. He ended up getting out of my yard and I never saw him again. I'm pretty sure someone took him

Family have always had pets, cats or dogs. The first one that I considered to be solely mine was a tabby cat.

I'd enquired after kittens from a house I'd passed by on my way to school. We got two, one for me and another for my lil sis. At that time my allergies were not as severe as they are now plus pets mostly stayed outdoors with out windows staying open almost all of the times to keep it well ventilated. Also carpets were the worse type of flooring to have in a tropical country so we had tiles and furniture had washable covers. That meant less chance of fur hanging around in the home. My cat, a tabby came and went as she pleased day or night. We didn't need to deal with litter boxes after they'd grown a bit, they used part of the garden for toilet times. I let her have kittens, twice. The first set got killed by a local tom cat who sneaked in our home at midnight within days of their birth. The next lot were okay and I gave them away when they were old enough. I got another cat that bro decided to own so 3 of us had our own pet cats. That's not too bad, we knew a family of 10 children who each had a pet dog making it 10 children, 10 dogs.

We learnt to treat animals well after the first kitten mother brought home ran away. We were a lot younger then, lil sis was 6. Bro and lil sis thought it was fun to put the kitten in a barrel water and look at the bubbles it made as it tried to miaow under water. The next family cat after that got treated better.
