If I'm a robot, why would I have any choice?
And if I have a choice, why would I follow my initial order?

The missing part of the plot is probably that the powerful AI also killed my original friends and family and in order to protect the friends who sheltered me and befriended me I must destroy the AI trying to take over and enslave humanity.

...and in the end I'll receive an ambiguous ending that's supposed to imply a happy ending where I survived my self sacrifice to destroy the AI and resume my happy life with my new friends and family that I successfully saved.

Sounds like a plot from somewhere!

At a very basic level, the entire purpose of replacing 'me' with a robot seems incomprehensible, so I suppose I would begin by trying to comprehend the purpose and design of the plan that resulted in my creation.

Whilst this is a possible scenario for a robot to be sentient i'm not a robot...but if i was then just like i am as a human my selection of next moves is already programmed and chosen for me to act out.

Freewill debates aside, being pre-programmed doesn't give you foreknowledge of your choices. Also, the decision engine must still decide. So, for you, what do you think your decision engine would decide?
