Yeah, that's really upsetting. I use the Astro A50 headset which uses optical, so the Slim is useless to me. I'm personally just going to stick w/ my launch PS4 and gaming PC. Let's see what Nintendo is cooking up, huh?

If some one actually thinks about getting rid of there old PS4 for an inferior PS4 slim i would be shocked.

Im mostly on PC when it comes to playing games when i get the chance. Nintendo i just hope wont disappoint with the NX theres already talk about detachable controls and a 720p gamepad like controller im honestly not expecting much out of Nintendo only more disappointments they just wont stop with the gimmicks.

That would probably be the most idiotic decision ever made.

Same, I love my PC. I just got done reading a developer blog from Irrational games and 2K who are giving everyone free remaster upgrades to the BioShock games if you already own them. That's what I call pro consumer for PC gamers

I sincerely hope Nintendo knows what they're doing. I agree, no more gimmicks. Right now, it's all just rumors, so there's still some hope. They just need a good, moderately powerful console w/ a regular controller and they got me sold. I just really want The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Super Smash Brothers 4 which is getting ported to the NX. I hope they port Wind Waker and Twilight Princess over as well. I never got to play Wind Waker before and I haven't played Twilight Princess since like 2010.

True that..

When it comes to PC it just feels like the best option and it does make me wonder why bother with consoles SURE they got there exclusives but me personally i can live without Sony Exclusives.

PC has tons to offer Higher Resolutions, YOUR way of playing games, Multiple controller options "I still prefer the Xbox 360 controller" and so on.

Also lower prices on PC games like say Overwatch the console owner paid $60 dollars for that game and i pre ordered that game for only $40 dollars and as a nice bonus since i love good sound the PC version of Overwatch came with Dolby Atmos and it truly immerses you in that game.

Just adding all these things up with PS4 going the risky 32X route it just begs the question why continue with a console?

As for Microsoft im willing to give them a chance with the Xbox Scorpio since that thing slaughters the PS4 Pro in performance and can do 4K who knows when it comes to Xbox things are actually pretty interesting to see what they do with it they might even beef it up more in time they sure have the money for it.

As for Nintendo il come clean im not interested in their console any more unless the rumors are wrong and they finally stick to a traditional controller and a beefed up machine and call it Super Nintendo 2.

There'd be no reason to upgrade from a PS4 to a Slim as the two machines are identical in hardware (optical port excluding). Form factor is really the only difference, which I can't imagine is enough incentive to spend that much to upgrade. If someone's looking to buy a system for the first time, then the Slim is a good option. While the lack of an optical port is a bit disappointing, I would imagine the number of people who actually make use of that port is very much a small minority

It's cancer, pointless, but there's idiots who will buy both just because it's out

Oh man, I feel you. However, I don't think I can live w/o Uncharted, The Last of Us, The Last Guardian, or even Kingdom Hearts, LOL. There's others as well, Sony just has a bucket of exclusives that are awesome.

Lol, I still have my wireless 360 controller. Haven't made the jump to Xbox One yet.

Oh wow, I still have yet to play Overwatch. I may have to pick up the game soon, it does have that World of Warcraft pvp vibe a little bit.

Because there are millions of people who still refuse to game on the PC. I don't know why either, PC gaming has gotten a lot more simpler compared to ten years ago and such. Hell, even building a PC is a lot simpler these days.

They have plenty of money. There's still no reason for me to get the scorpio. Microsoft has made it very clear that they love Windows 10 and xbox. I have a Windows 10 gaming machine, I'm all set for anything that isn't Halo

I'm interested simply because I haven't owned a Nintendo console since the N64. Yes, since the N64 days. My folks have a Wii and I've used it a few times, but I never liked the motion controls they forced on you. Playing Twilight Princess on a gamecube controller was so much better than the Wii mote. I'll just be looking out for their digital event they will be hosting and hopefully, it'll be amazing.

Optical ports are pretty good for specific headsets and surround sound setups. I personally use the Astro A50's which use optical believe it or not. You're right though, the majority of users are either using their TV's built in sound or a cheap USB headset.

Optical does matter to mostly people who want good audio with headphones or people with home theaters that may use that port like Bose Home Theater setups.

Some people would use there headset on that port some people may not use it but there is a number of people who would like that port included.

I played around with the Wii U its fine and all its good for its exclusives but very lacking 3rd Party.

As for Overwatch i would say dont bother to me the game feels to easy and a total hand holder i dont play it as much but that is just me.

Yeah, ever since Nintendo announced the NX, I lost all interest in the Wii U. Sure it has some games that I want to play, but I'm not about to shell out several hundred dollars for a console that'll pretty much be dead in the mud once the NX comes out.

I've seen a few livestreams of the game. It looks fun, but it also looks like the type of game that I'd pick up and play every now and then. I'm not too big into multiplayer like I used to be. I'll heed your advice and wait for a sale.

I still haven't bought PS4 but i'll buy at the of the year. I've been a Playstation man ever since childhood (it was my first console). Ah the times... Anyway, if i have to choose between Slim and Pro, i guess it's gonna be Pro.

And i hope Nintendo would make NX something... not too much different. No more extra gimmicks like Wii U had. I bought it year ago and what happened? I stopped playing it after i completed every few games i bought on it exept Smash Bros. because of it's Challenges. Sad, isn't it? I started to play PS3 again because there are three games still in progress... as well as their Trophies.

You guys all make very interesting points. I am honestly not interested into getting the slim because I wanna save money for the Playstation VR which is also supposed to come up soon enough. That is the definition of new to me

I originally pre-ordered the pro when pre-orders first came out but after reading up on it I became less and less enthusiastic about it. I'm perfectly fine with my launch PS4 given the Pro doesn't offer as much of an upgrade as I originally hoped. Plus, I haven't gotten around to buying a 4k television as of yet. My 55 'inch LG TV is alive and kicking after 5 years. Sometimes I wish it would break down so I can have an excuse to buy a new television.

Damn, reliable and durable television >__<
