One thing I am curious is Funi's shows you need to subscribe to that are older. Some you can watch all dub but none sub and vise versa, I wonder what will happen to those.
But since CR has the free service after a week and now sounds like Funi is stopping subs, will they have it so you can see the dubs free after a week or two?

Certainly I am a bit cautious. But this has a lot of potential to be a good thing. They say they are keeping the fans in mind. As long as they do regardless if you pay or watch free, then this is good. As long as you can still watch shows free after a week, it can bring more people to watch legally. Having easier and a wider variety of access is going to be good for everyone.

Right now I'm holding onto both subs, but I can definitely see myself dropping my Funi sub in the future if, as it sounds, all shows end up on both sites but CR gets the subs and Funi gets the dubs. I never watch dubs and I very rarely watch catalog shows. If there's something in the Funi catalog I feel like watching I'd just resub for a month and then cancel again.

Either way, this feels like a bit of an odd coupling to me given that many viewers prefer either subs only or dubs only. I actually see this decision ending up costing both services subscriptions over the long term and I'm not sure why they would consider that a good thing unless they've got something else up their sleeves that they haven't spilled yet.

Does anyone know if the dubs will be coming over to CR too?

They are not. CR will only do subs and simulcasting. Funi will be doing the dubs and distribution rights.

I don't see it happening right away. I mean funi does not release their dubs for free. If anything my guess is at some point Crunchy could have their own dubs here. But it probably be well after they are done being on Funi, probably a few months minimum is my guess, again if Crunchy decides to stream their dubs. It would probably be after some time.

Thanx for the info, I hate to admit but I like to switch between the two. Reading subs for 3hrs straight tires my eyes.

So which sub should I cancel? Since they overlap I'll only need 1 sub anyway.

Looks like Funimation is going to get rid of all their subs, if I read their faqs right. Those who currently had a sub-pass with funimation will no longer be charged as of today and will be given free 60 days of their new subscription plan. I'm guessing they are removing you from their subscription since the sub-plan no longer exist and it looks like I'll be moving back to crunchyroll and also all the other sub-pass subscribers as well.

Yeah, but what about subpass subscribers like me who paid a year in advance. Do we get a partial refund (5-7 months)?

Though I already have both subscriptions, I think this is fantastic news! Can't wait to see how you guys roll this out.

It's not quite all of the subs that are moving. Here are some quotes (emphasis mine) from their FAQs

Subtitled versions of many of Funimation's shows will be moving over to Crunchyroll...

Subtitled content for titles affected by this agreement will be removed from FunimationNow in phases, with the transition expected to be completed by the end of 2016. We will keep you up to date with these changes on our Blog. Subtitled content for a small selection of titles will remain on FunimationNow based on previous licensor agreements.
