I feel like I lost what anime was cool ! With this new CR / FUNI deal I think a lot of fun is now gone . I guees I am just getting old and cranky and really dislike a lot of the new elistit anime fans. Gone are when you had to look for anime whther it be Adult Swim / Toonami / On demand and you only got it once a week.

Even just a few short years I like being a Pirate and finding anime like Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions before it was licensed!

Then recent Gems such as Yozakura Quartet / Marcross Delta

Even Symphogear ( S1 FUNI was dissed ) then S2 wasnt picked up! But finally licensed

Even Love Lab was a late pick-up after it success was noticed !

Dont get me wrong I am glad anime is more legal / but I liked finding anime that nobody hardly noticed !

I like being a hipster. However it's also frustrating when others will never know how great Milky Holmes TD or Aggressive Retsuko are

Oh god... no no no no no.

I am too old to keep digging through librarys and rental shops for elusive anime VHS tapes and hitting up the discount sections of comic book stores. Or staying up super late on Showtime for the odd 1am anime movie.

God bless you internet!

The good old days of paying through the "you know what" to have a fansubbed VHS taped anime mailed to you.

Then later on downloading Real Player quality anime that were between 20-50mb in size, and it would have taken you ages to download because 56kbps wasn't really fast.

When the internet speeds finally caught up to where you were able to distribute quality episodes of anime, things finally took off.
Fansubs rose up everywhere and you had a very large community watching series never seen before and it record speed (a day or two or up to a week behind airing in Japan).

I enjoyed being able to watch a ton of series that many people were aware of and at the same time wanted a legal and convenient way for the mainstream viewers to be able watch said series.

Fansubs are no where as prevalent as they were 7-10 years ago when a majority of the anime series coming out of Japan now are licensed and distributed rather quickly/simulcast in a very easy to access manner. However, as long as there continues being anime series looked over by Western companies, fansubs will continue having an important role.

*still waiting for Major to be licensed in the U.S.*

Maybe it is just because I never had to do any of that and am spoiled by the luxuries of today, but holy crap that makes absolutely no sense to me. This deal was some of the best news for me in a long time. Making anime more available legally is great, I can't even begin to understand how you could complain about it.

Less competition is usually bad for the consumer. I canceled my Funimation sub simply because I don't want to basically pay the same company twice. I'm going to miss out on Tales of Zestria, and My Hero Academia if CR does not add them. I'll watch them someplace less legit if I have to.

I, for one, do not miss the old days that the others mention. I still have a few of my VHS tapes to remind me of the way things used to be – a warning to be heeded and remembered.

Amazon never really competed with CR or Funi. the little anime they offer is just an extra perk.
(funy how they still provide a better service with the little anime selection they offer compared to either CR or Funi)

This^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^Amazon treats customers very fair and professional if they expanded the anime selection CR and Funi would be in trouble their customer service blows you have to be squeaky wheel to get attention. Prime membership is so worth its money.

My Hero Academia is more than likely getting added considering it's already outsourced to Hulu.

Hmm, so you dislike a lot of the new elitist anime fans, because you are one of the old elitist anime fans? Your whole post was basically complaining that you can't be elitist anymore, because people can find whatever anime they want to see when they want to see it.
