Do you mean for older series that were still produced in 4:3 aspect ratio?

Anything produced in 4:3 will obviously stay 4:3. Means that you will have black bars on the left and right on a 16:9, 21:9 or 16:10 screen.
Of course you could zoom in on the picture, but you'd lose part of the actual video at the bottom and top doing that.

No, I mean in the new series.

I'm watching right now Holy Knight in the 480p and has those black spaces.

Weird since I try the app and they seen to disappear but no here on the site.

The player has a fixed width, and the video probably is not fully 16:9. More like 15.8:9, if you will. If you put it in full screen it should not be as visible.

The real problem here is that you're watching Holy Knight.

Well the anime is bad, badly drawn, voice acted, and just stupid, the manga is even worse, Especially since the author is so damn lazy he left it unfinished so what we are left with is the main heroine being raped over and over because fuck it and bam it just ends with no anwser to anything. It's a manga/anime that should have never been started.
Oh don't worry it's not a spoiler it doesn't happen in those 2 episodes.

Eh I'm immune to this after seeing School days and endless 8. You may hate me for this but that OP I like it.

The rape isn't the only problem the problem is it plus everything else in the story goes nowhere because the creator was a lazy fucker.

I hate starting something and leaving it unfinished.
Same reason I watch the end of a T.V. show that get shitty after like 4 season, I've put time into it so I want to see the end.

So I not losing anything on the video by watching it on 480p?

No, you're not. There was nothing where the black bars are in first place.
