Do you believe people change?
Posted 9/12/16

Hmmm this one I can agree with in all honesty going through a few right now in all honesty and some of the stuff I have done shows that as well in all honesty. Then agree with what you said and that people sometimes do go back as well have had it happen a few times in all honesty.

Hmmm makes sense as well in all honesty. Then same feel the same way.

Yes. More often through changing environment and circumstances but also through will driven action. Thinking about changing, wanting to change or anything else abstract wont do anything. Also people can't change other people, only themselves and the environment.

Then yep I can agree with that in all honesty just thinking about it well does nothing need to put in the work yourself. Hmmm I somewhat disagree with the last part in all honesty. Personal experience with that one in all honesty. My best friend wanted me to be more like her in all honesty and it was getting to the point I was basically like her in all honesty but she ended the friendship in all honesty because of the fact I was to much like her in all honesty.

I've become the same type of person that I would not have associated with 10 years ago.

This isn't a bad thing. I've simply become wiser, more tolerant (yet also more intense), and I drilled some good habits into myself. My way of thinking has changed. I'm more socially capable. It isn't merely a facade. I've come to a broader understanding and legitimately believe in my new perspective on things.

In humble opinion, (this is just my opinion mind you) I believe that No One can truly change. You can only improve.

The definition of change is to make different or to choose something different. I feel that doesn't apply to humans- we can't change how we feel or think those qualities are hardwired inside of us.

Now improve is much different- to make better, achieve or produce something better, to advance. I feel that through my life I may not be a saint but I am surely not a devil either. I can't change who I am inside that is how I am hardwired inside. I can however, improve on what qualities I deem proper for my frame of thinking.

People change all the time

New experiences, ideas, places, information, desires etc. You can get better, worse, or just different. And something you might see as a change in someone else could simply be a previously hidden part of them you now see rather than them changing, which means you just changed a little.

People can't HELP but change. Every 12 to 14 years, your brain undergoes an extensive round of axon-terminal synaptic pruning accompanied by a massive new growth of grey and white matter. You are arguably not even the same person after that.

Do we hibernate or build a cocoon when this occurs?

Blah its just a habit in all honesty. A lot of people see it as my catchphrase in all honesty. At least you where nice about it another forum I go on someone used in all honesty repeatedly over and over and said it was extremely annoying. In all honesty I just laughed it but well no idea how to in all honesty.

I mean yeah I can see how it gets annoying sometimes but no idea on how to stop lol.

We can change as a result of experience , or discovery . Those can cause major changes in a person's life. Mostly though we just evolve out of necessity becoming different every day in small ways .

People can't not change. Otherwise we would spend out entire lives with the maturity of infants

Yes/no/maybe I really don't care, but I will say it depends on what you think constitutes change and the context in which your asking. Sometimes I find other people's idea of change as irrelevant as pepsi or coke, or that the change is so misguided that the surface is a tad different but the underlying paradigm or thing is still the same, in that certain context, yeah I don't find that as being change but more along the lines of self deception under the guise of change. In a larger context I can observe that things inevitably change, however the cyclic nature is the same, the process that unfolds itself is the same, thus being both change and same.

No, we usually just develop some sort of terrible taste in music. Like when you're 13 you get into emo or something, and then in your mid-twenties you start listening to some awful pop bullshit, and then in your late thirties you start trying to tell people about jazz fusion. By the time you hit your fifties you're convinced the only good music was the music you grew up with and everything they're making now is just noise.
