NC loses more major events because of HB2. I wonder if it was all worth it.

Don't get me wrong, I hate most of what HB2 does, but there's no reason that corporations should be pulling events from the state just because of the bill.

Not that missing out on all those all-star and championship events will hurt the NC's economy too terribly, it's still a dick move.

Also, what are they gonna do if the people of NC vote the same politicians back in? Is the rest of the U.S. gonna hold my state hostage because we sign in laws that others disagree with?

Private company, if they don't want to do business there that's their right.

Maybe we should go back to outhouses. They were mainly gender neutral because there was only one hole to use.

Pretty much what he said. It may not affect their economy but it will affect the public perception of the bill

I heard about this issue way earlier this year in an email I got from the Human Rights Campaign. The reason that they've been pressured to move events out of North Carolina is because the NCAA considers themselves an equal and non-discriminating group, and HB2 clearly goes against those ideals. So therefore, holding events in North Carolina would be counteractive to what they believe in. I applaud them for standing up to the discrimination that HB2 allows and moving the events.

I believe in equality, but I don't believe 99.9% of the population should have to change their bathroom habits for some guy who happens to be feeling feminine today. This is a public forum, and as such I'll post as I like (within the rules) My opinions may be different from yours but that does not give you the right to have the only say on a topic. If you don't like my posts, stay off the forum, because I'm not going anywhere to please you.

That's the price the governor and legislator have decided to pay. Yes they maybe able to enact these laws, but people also don't have to do business within a state that codifies discrimination into law.

If it any comfort the NCAA isn't exactly a moral authority either, it's business is basically the exploitation of unpaid student athletes who more than likely don't have time to study for a degree that will be of any use should they fail to be one of the few who get to go pro. Then there is their use of taxpayer funded facilities to make billions with little requirement or willingness to share the profits while schools continue to raise tuition at shocking rates. Instead coaches are payed 7 figure salaries.

So everyone I am only going to post this one time.

Keep personal arguments out of the forums. Additionally it takes two people to have a flame war. If you feel someone is truly being rude and insulting to you, report, and do not post a single word in reply because all that will accomplish is exacerbating the problem.

In other news, I actually deleted the only posts that really were offensive while I was here too. Sadly no one reported those. Just a tip, calling an entire state a "shithole" and saying negative and derogatory comments about everyone who lives there is just as discriminatory and bigoted as any racist that ever was.

Personally the NCAA will be the losers here. Why? Because North Carolina is basically the equivalent of Jerusalem for people who actually care about college basketball. Which is probably no one on this forum. However that also means a huge amount of finding from people living in that state used to provide... well it may dry up a little.

I'm as progressive as they come but I'm not in agreement with people opposing and calling these laws "Anti-trangender" If you have a dick, use the mens room, when you transition, then go ahead and use the womans rest room. Everyplace in the whole damn world doesnt have the resources to be checking if some vile person is going to commit a horrible crime in the ladies room.
