It just fades in and out and is incredibly distracting. Im logged in and it still shows up.

i really don't need to be reminded im on crunchyroll. i typed in the address ya jabroni

The watermark is there to track down any users who would rip and re-release the videos for profit. Most of the apps don't display the watermarks.

The watermark is there to track down any users who would rip and re-release the videos for profit. Most of the apps don't display the watermarks.


three things CR need to understand:
1. this doesn't stop pirates. they can - and often do - look for other sources.
2. pirates share for the sake of sharing
3. keeping watermark ultimately accomplishes nothing, but it does annoy legit, paying users. just like the decision to use flash instead of html 5 - doesn't stop pirates, but it does make the video less smooth and laggy for paying users.

It's a deterrent for would-be casual pirates, and that makes the Japanese licensors feel warm and fuzzy about licensing to CR.
