How easily do you get scared?
Posted 9/17/16

My entire family hid behind me at this haunted house when I was nine years old. I didn't expect that to happen.

I get scared really easily, especially in real life when an inconsiderate(lol) friend or family member tries to spook me. I'm also jumpy, which leads to some... interesting reactions to mundane situations.

Nothing really scares me. I'll stay alert in certain situations like when I'm watching a horror movie or playing a horror videogame, so I can prepare myself for whatever may jump out at me. I've learned through the years where I used to get scared that fear can become a hindrance, so eventually I've learned to just let go.

I get scared pretty easily, it's a combination of being highly suggestible and jumpy! I've been known to jump at shadows before.

I can get startled or spooked when I least expect it, like if I'm in silence and a loud bang of some sort happens to occur.

One time I was stabbed in the back of the leg by some stupid guy, and I least expected it, however I didn't scream/get startled/get spooked. I remember feeling a sharp agonizing pain that confused me, so I turn around in reflex to yank the thing out of my leg while cursing him out.

This idiot told me he wanted to see my reaction, and was hoping I would scream and cry in fear.

I am, however, more aware of my surroundings and pretty much assume 50% of the time something or someone is out to scare me, so I prepare myself for any sudden loud noises or movements.

That's quite idiotic from him and a demonstrates a little bit, just a bit of Psychopathy tendencies he may have. Why didn't you hit him? He really deserved a knock on the head. Also, I know it would be dangerous. It is just that something like this would trigger me really hard. I wouldn't help to get cocky there. But this is me and my 90 kilos and 1 m and 80 cm. Usually I do not have violent tendencies, but sometimes I wished I could punch one of these morons on the face. lol

Also, on topic. I am an as scared as a cat over water when it comes from jump scares or gore. I tend to be paranoid, so there is a pretty big deal of a chance I get jumpy from many things. I like Horror Movies cause I shit my pants really easy. But, when it comes from some sorts of situations like being public exposed I am completely fine. Most of the time I get more pissed than scared.

I don't like venomous snakes but will deal with the issue at hand if I have to. My fears are a little more vague. I don't get scared in the traditional sense of the word. Halloween haunted houses do nothing for me. Spiders, snakes, etc don't phase me. Being approached by a group of people in a dark alley doesn't make me break a sweat but in all honesty I'm scared of everything. I'm scared of life and more importantly I'm extremely scared of death. The little things don't bother me. Armed gunmen, pffffttt. The thought of waking up tomorrow and not being the real me though scares me. Some days I'm just not myself. Death bothers me and yet I've been so reckless and careless with my life so many times. It's a bit ironic and sad I guess. Most of my fears are internal and don't involve normal things that people are afraid of: like dangerous situations. I guess I'm afraid to live life even though I work so hard at it. On a bright note my overwhelming fear of death has gotten me through some really dark episodes so maybe there's a good reason I have this irrational fear? It's definitely saved my life a time or two.

Talking about death I always had recurrent nightmares about haunted houses where there is no way out and I will be there on a loop having to face another day realizing I am dead. Yeah, pretty sick stuff, but I often dream with such things and it is always the same thing. Usually there is a silent lady who is called by a phantasmagorical voice and she says she may go to the afterlife vanishing on the endless stairs the mansions has. Did I say the house is composed mainly by stairways and empty halls? Also, there is minimal architecture and some vases on top of a dusty table alone on a corridor which leads to a blank/ dark space.

I get scared pretty easily when I'm alone, but when I'm with someone nothing really bothers me.
Jump scares will always make me flinch though. Always.
