Cool.
Didn't expect this.
Thought they only planned 4 episodes.

Nope, it was announced with 5 from the beginning.

Which version of Psycho Pass is CR using? The first TV broadcast version? The blu-ray version? Or the post-original blu-ray director's cut re-airing / special broadcast with additional scenes per episode?

I think this special cut of the 1st season was later included in a collector's edition in Japan; I don't know if Funimation also got the rights to this version.

Funimation has both versions. It, the second series, and the movie were all announced as licensed at the same time, and they simulcast the former two.

The extended edition is half the number of episodes (but each double the length) so this isn't it.

Both Psycho-Pass and Grimgar aren't the best tests for whether CR is getting the broadcast or home video version, as they weren't a censorship-fest that makes that easy to spot. Hopefully someone intimately familiar with one of the series can play "spot the difference" and confirm which version we have.

Is it just me, or have you recently been neglecting your customers that aren't from US, Canada, UK, or Ireland?

I feel like I've been downloading a lot of fansubs for Crunchyroll shows lately.

Recently? They always didn't cared about people from non English territories.

Blame the studios who owns the rights

Like seriously I was hoping that I can hear some Funi dubs here in crunchy coz funimation is behind region block wall but no

Nothing aside from what was already announced for me in this round, but hopefully some of the next Funimation transplants will have nordic rights included.

It feels weird having to actually look at catalog announcements now, instead of just knowing that they'll be US/CA only.

Yes, and that is pretty odd. Not that the rest of us got a lot of new shows, but it's unusual to single out one of the nordics like that (though I think Iceland is often left out?). Makes me wonder what the regions are like on other Funimation titles that include nordic rights - could we see Sweden only shows or more Finland neglect?

The movie isn't available on Funimation's own site.

Assuming they are able to keep the schedule, season 2 should appear here sometime before the end of 2016. Per Funimation's FAQ:

Subtitled content for titles affected by this agreement will be removed from FunimationNow in phases, with the transition expected to be completed by the end of 2016. We will keep you up to date with these changes on our Blog. Subtitled content for a small selection of titles will remain on FunimationNow based on previous licensor agreements.

Frankly, I would take that "end of 2016" with a grain of salt. Both CR and Funimation have had their share of deadline slippage in the past, and I don't expect this to be an exception.

I watched Galaxy Railways prior to Galaxy Express 999 and the only thing they have in common is a shared universe... if it weren't for Letter from an Abandoned Planet you'd never realize they were in universe

Not sure how Letters would play without GE999, but GR will be fine standalone, and GE999 will be fine standalone. no need to watch them together.
