First off I have premium and my queue only has 5 items.
Second I have already removed all data and reinstalled multiple times.
Third my Internet connection is perfect and plenty fast.
Fourth I have a 5 terabyte hard drive and the app is the only thing directly installed on the console.

Now explain to me why videos randomly freeze when watching and occasionally lock up. I am paying to watch videos, not to get angry about bad quality of service.

The last mile isn't the only part of your Internet connection that impacts playback performance, which relies on a good end-to-end connection to CR's CDN servers. Have you tried changing your DNS settings to see if that improves playback performance?

I feel you pain I spent 250 $ on a top of the line router not to mention it's costing me me 480 $ more a yera for higher speed internet just for one site only Crunvhyrool . I do the Ping test and the speed is always good So it now costs me 70.00 a month for a year to recoup the cost of watching CR Yea an upgrade is good but I did it to watch CR

It is frustrating ! I had problems all summer with tech saying chasnge my DNS and worked great for a weej but from SAT thru SUN didmatter what time it would freezee every 3-4 minutes.

I could watch Funimation no problem So without doing anything so far on monday I watched a couple of shows no stops . SO it has to be on CR's end or with the Funimation shows the servers cant handle it again.

I have the same problem and I am directly connected to the modem with 12 MB per. Internet so buffering shouldn't even slow me down . The server and or app will not allow enough data to be stored to keep up with the video , and I am also subscribe to Hulu Plus and it works perfectly ! oh and this is on my Xbox One .

I have the same god damn problems they flair up every other month, but this time it is unwatchable. I am barely able to get a god damn full minute before it freezes. This may be the last straw and I may just say fuck Crunchy Roll and go back to other source to watch my anime.

So just so I understand you, you think DNS settings have any effect on streaming quality and performance? Is that what you're saying? Sorry, but as a software engineer I'm gonna have to call you out.

DNS settings don't have a god damn thing to do with quality and performance, only what is and isn't allowed through. There's a reason why people on Moderate and Strict DNS settings aren't able to play with a lot of people on games, and that same reason DOES NOT apply to streaming services.

The reason I see why the Xbox One app for Crunchyroll gets piss poor performance is due to several things... firstly, when was the last time it was updated? I haven't ever seen an update for the app, and I've had it installed for months now. And don't go off saying "hurr durr it updated whilst it was in rest mode" because I'd still call you on the bullshit. There are settings to turn that off, and I never set the console to rest anyway, it wastes power.

Secondly, the Xbox One, or rather consoles in general, have piss poor app support anyway, especially streaming services. Coupled with the fact they basically throttle your connection regardless of the speed and you can see where it's going.

Thirdly, the argument that it's because streaming requires uploading instead of downloading is a moot point, as that still doesn't explain why someone can stream on PC or Mobile just fine on the same connection, but as soon as it's Xbox's turn, somehow it basically breaks. You could have a 10gb/s connection and it still wouldn't make a difference.

So, in conclusion.... Both the Crunchyroll and Xbox teams need to work together to fix this problem.

Well, actually, it is possible...in some cases. The CDN service that CR uses responds with the server "closest" to your named DNS nameserver, it doesn't necessarily use the CDN server that is "closest" to your location (route-wise)...

If people are having issues, they should at least try to search for, download and run namebench to find the best compromise of fast and close public nameserver. Namebench doesn't make any changes, though, it just runs a crapload of tests. You still have to make the changes it suggests yourself. Just blindly changing your nameserver to google or freedns probably won't help at all, unless it's just by happenstance of location.

And, yes, you may still be right, changing it to something else may still not make any difference at all, but then again, it might, if circumstances happen to not be ideal with the defaults your ISP gives you.
