Just let people know that's the only way to find more friends that enjoy anime. I hid the fact I watched anime in my teen years and never told anyone that I watched anime. It took me 10 years to tell anyone and it was with a new guy that got hired at work who was open about watching. Now we talk almost everyday about shows and manga we are watching and it makes me feel a lot better to share my thoughts with a person.

I've played Warhammer Fantasy and 40K, Online gaming before WoW (and after), Magic the Gathering, Pen and Paper roleplaying.

Every time I mentioned anything about any of them to co-workers I had to explain what it was to blank stares and got the response "oh" afterwards.

Where the hell are you guys finding these jobs that are mainly staffed by non-mainstream people? I want one as well

Im a mechanic which in my opinion is the least likely to have anyone into anime when I first started. I found out about the one line tech because he had D&D stickers on his tool box so I decided to probe a little. lol

I've got Sailor Moon sticky notes and pens. I also wear anime wristbands and read manga and light novels on breaks. There's also the Sailor moon bentos and lunch bags. My current work ringtone is the "Koyomi Onichan" version of "Renai Circulation. My job is 50% data management and 50% monitoring field work in a hard hat. If my job made me hide my otaku self I would find another or create one.

I only work because of anime after all

My work place is at home, I don't really decorate anything in my room infact my room is just my Home Office next to my big window and a large bed and lots of space available but I don't take use of.

I would decorate but I just cant get myself to do so I don't like having to much clutter.

No. I don't. Probably because i just started getting into Anime, but i would never think of doing that. I wouldn't want to make coworkers uncomfortable.

During lunchtime or breaks, I go to a cybercafe if I want to watch anime during the day. Although, I am allowed to use smartphones to watch anime while working. Unfortunately for me, I got bored of watching anime lately.

My policy on anime at work:

The only way I'd mention it is if someone else brought it up.

Yeah, I realize that, but I am very self-conscious and I can't stand the thought of people not liking me because of it. I know it's stupid, but I guess I value my reputation over having someone to actually be able to talk to about that stuff.

I'm an engineer, and the guy next to me believes the whole anime is hentai crap. Funny thing is that I think one of the senior engineers is a closet anime fan because he kept trying to get the department to watch Steins;Gate one time, but I tend to keep my hobbies and work life separate from one another.
