It's a difficult decision but I enjoy The Hobbit more! They are both awesome movies though!

LoTR

Even Peter Jackson himself said he had no idea what the hell he was doing while filming The Hobbit trilogy.

The movie version of LOTR is so so so much better in my opinion, but I prefer the book of The Hobbit more because it makes me think of my childhood.

Lord of the Rings is my absolute favorite movie/book series...so I'd say LotR

The Lord of the Rings was more true to the books and had a fuller story in general, so I have to go with that one. Not that they still didn't change some things, mind you.

All film versions pale compared to the books, so I cannot prefer either in movie format.

The Lord of the Rings. The Hobbit dragged on for too long and wasn't the best at following the source material.

The Hobbit movies, because the faster pacing keeps me more engaged and awake. The LoTR seems to dawdle more with "quiet and empty" times, relatively speaking, and I sometimes end up drifting off.

As novels, I prefer The Hobbit. It's a lot more lighthearted and fun to me. However, I thought the film adaptions for The Hobbit were really poorly done and stretched out. Lord of the Rings is superior as film.

I appreciate how simple the story of The Hobbit is in the original book. The movies on the other hand added too many pointless plot points to make it longer so that they could make a trilogy in an obvious attempt to make more money. That doesn't mean they're not enjoyable movies, I still really like them, but I prefer stories with a more epic scope to them, so I prefer TLoR in both film and book.

As far as the books go, I prefer LotR. The Hobbit is okay, but LotR is great, even if a little slow, boring, overly descriptive at parts. As far as the movies... not sure, the LotR movies were okay, I may have followed them better had I read the books first... the Hobbit movies... couldn't get past the first one and the dwarves inviting themselves.

LOTR because I watched those over and over again first.

I haven't watched watched The Hobbit so I can't make a comparison.
If we're talking about the books though, I'd pick The Hobbit even though I had a crush on Frodo.

Lets just put it this way... I eagerly anticipated the extended versions of the LOTR films, whereas I would love to buy a condensed version of the Hobbit. I can only stomach so many zany CGI dwarven chase scenes.
