What do you do? Lets say a new season with your favorite anime character airs and it is revealed that this character has been posing as the opposite sex all this time. In disbelief you search blogs and tweets and find out it's official, the creator has made a statement about this character, it's 100% canon. Can you go on living? This also works for favorite male characters, in which case she would be a reverse trap.

I'm bi so it doesn't affect me in the slightest
This picture summed up my reaction to finding out that Chihiro from Dangan Ronpa was a guy

Your post made me realize that your favorite character may also be the same sex as you even if you're straight. Some guys really like Naruto, Goku or Eren as a role-model type character. It's not always all about the waifu with some anime fans.

I'm pansexual and all of my favorite characters are female, but if any of them were traps, they would actually appeal to me even more (kind of like your spoiler image).

What Velvet said. Being a trap would make them more interesting to me

Best of both worlds, if you ask me. However, I would really want to know what kind of trap this character is supposed to be. Some trap characters want to be referred to as the gender they appear to be, while others get sad/mad whenever such a thing happens. I don't think I would like it if my favourite character were to be revealed as a trap just to bombard the fans with blatant fan service.

I would probably be a little annoyed that they sprung such a thing so late in the game, unless there had been evidence foreshadowing the development earlier in the series. Otherwise it'd just seem like they've jumped the shark.

The character would be ruined for me, because I wouldn't be able to look at them without being reminded of the overly sexual degenerates that are obsessed with traps and sissies and sluttiness.

I think it really just just depends on the anime type too, i mean if Goku was really a girl and it was revealed (just saying Goku cause of a previous post) It'd be very confusing and hard to get behind for everyone. Goku tends to power his way past who is fighting instead of out wit(Like most fighting females do) Or out skill, he tends to brute force his way past someone by just being "stronger". Being stronger or relying on brute force tends to be more of a male characteristic while females tend to be more witty and both tend to share being skillful being male or female. Let's say you're watching a romance, that can also be a problem in the anime world, it would spice up a romance anime but it could also hurt what it was going for. Trust me if we found out Rikka was a guy from Chuunibyou, I'm pretty sure no one would watch that season and it'd just be weird. I'm not saying Bi, Gay, or Lesbian relationships are weird. Just the dramatic change would be weird and if the the main romance character doesn't accept the change in gender, it leads to a big problem to the Bi,Gay, and Lesbian societies. I felt like i rambled on and got off topic. I'm not sure how i'd feel if Alibaba from Magi was a female, i think i wouldn't really care as he tends to be a more witty and skill based fighter instead of relying on brute force or to out power who he is facing. I think the drop of gender change would hurt him as my favorite character... outside that he'd still be a nice character.

I probably would have worded it dirtier, but this is still more or less just how I would have answered. I mean, you can't ruin a character by making them a trap. That's like trying to ruin a cake by adding chocolate frosting.

When you say trap - do you mean that they are transgender or just cross dressing?

Either way it's fine though. If my first anime crush turned out to be a woman, it wouldn't change my feelings for them.

I was discussing this with my friends a while ago, but it turns out women are more likely to be bisexual (or admit to it). I don't think that the word "trap" really applies... either way you're getting a bonus (boobs vs. package, either is good).

Traps could be transgender, like it was mentioned before some don't like being referred to by the gender they appear to be, but due to some situation that also drives the story, the trap must crossdress. It's never really about whether they are trans or not, so I guess just crossdressing. But they don't look like they are crossdressing because their face or appearance doesn't give them away.

Hey don't call trap lovers degenerates. What makes us different from people who love looking at cute girls or sexy boys? It's just a different type of fantasy or attraction. We just happen to not be put off when we see a cute girl in a sukumizu and then notice there happens to be a bulge.

It could be... interesting.

Let's see, I have two favorite characters. On the female side, my favorite is Suruga Kanbaru from the Monogatari Series. I could see this working out. Kanbaru is one of the few females that Araragi doesn't really hit on; rather she puts him on the defensive. This could also open up relationship possibilities, as opposed to having Araragi as the sole teenage male. I'm fairly sure Nadeko and the Fire Sisters would be interested. If that doesn't work out, the Koyomi harem is missing a boy.

On the male side, my favorite is Killua Zoldyck. I think that would actually be amazing. Gon would so damn lucky (even more than he already is). There's a few fanart of a female Killua already:

I wouldn't know how to feel about that.

People who look at "cute girls" and "sexy boys" are degenerates, too. Pretty much everyone else in the entire world except me a few others are, I would say. I will never understand it and need to learn to stop paying attention to anyone in the world other than myself.
