I don't know, I guess to me it just seems like having children and all that stuff is kind of overrated. And now a days, especially here in the U.S the divorce rate is quite high. Just seems that in the rushed society we live in, many people just rush into these very serious commitments. Especially when many are still figuring things out. I think getting things together or experiencing a little more out of this vast world we live in makes a lot more sense. Not for everyone, of course. But the way I see it, in the U.S many people would benefit all around if they waited until their 30$ to start having kids and all that shtuff.

Japan's birth rate problem is more advanced but the U.S and other western countries may find themselves in the same boat. Especially if like the U.S the lack of benefits like paid leave etc make it a tough proposition.

Well the study did mention that many prefer waiting until they're in their 30s to start a family. I think thats pretty smart. Better than having a bunch of broke-ass teenagers having kids and living off welfare/or on their parents tab.

It's better for sure, hell I'm on board with staying off that until I'm ready, but when couples get into their thirties defects in offspring tend to become more common, maybe the Japanese have that on lock but I doubt it

Japanese women obviously need an onii chan such as myself to bring them joys and wonders unbeknownst to them.

I'm pretty sure Japan is just ahead of the curve in this respect. I wouldn't be surprised to find a similar result in many western countries, barring the virginity part, which is rather irrelevant as noted above.

I hear some people saying that this is Japanese society's fault specifically, but it is also the case in many first world nations.

One big factor, It used to be required to have a family to look out for your future when, now everyone trusts the gov't to take care of them in their old age when they're alone and frail.

The other big factor is that no one knows how to get along, or conflict resolution. People kick friends off their friend list for minor political disagreements, and you expect people nowadays to raise a family?

Even from a national security perspective if you wind up with a shrinking population, your land is that much less defensible against a larger aggressor. Replacing yourself is the best thing you can do for your own personal and national benefit on the long term.

listen. the economy is that great over there. so logical if you can't afford a family don't make one. kids and family life is not free. it costs a lot of money. and raising kids takes a lot of time.

if you're not married don't have sex. that way you'll avoid AIDS and other STDS and out of wedlock children growing up to be gangbangers and dope dealers and shooting the cops.

the japanese are doing right. it is just the result of mast morality is a shrinking population.

It's also a sign that Japan will eventually cease to exist.

Reseachers at Tohoku University have put together a countdown timer that, taking into account the nation’s aging populace and dramatically declining fertility rates, claims to predict the precise date and time when the population will shrink to just one person — supposedly on August 16, 3766, or in 1,750 years.

I fail to see the problem. The act of sex is just nasty and everybody else in the world can learn a valuable lesson in keeping their legs shut.

I'm not sure whether I believe in these online statistics anymore.

Wasn't there a statistic that says Japanese people have more sex per year than the rest of the world. How do you even measure these things.
