Depends on the kid... But sometimes you can trick them like a dog and mix something they don't like with something they do.

They should eat what they are served.

My little sister didn't like anything when she was little and would sometimes refuse to eat only to ask for candy about an hour later. But my mom always said 'eat your dinner because you won't get anything else and can go to bed hungry'. My sister ate well the next day. Only if you really hated it you didn't have to eat it. For me it was/is beans and for my sister chicory.

I've heard from some people that they cook 4 different dishes everyday. I always found that crazy.

Should children be allowed to select what food to eat or be made to eat what their parents want them to eat?

There's more to life than chicken nuggets and Mac & cheese. All us cool adults know that, and it's our duty to pass along the secret.

Yes

To a certain extent. I remember my mom insisted on putting garlic in all food she made, it was horrible because I would always end up vomiting up my food after biting into a piece.

Yes, what I disliked was simply the taste of garlic, but it was to the point where it made me throw up. I would think it would be reasonable to stop adding it into my food.

As said, they eat what they are served until they are older, acknowledging what certain foods do to their system.

With that in mind? I guess you reap what you sow.
