No, seriously, I get the feeling that some people hate it with a passion. Because a majority hates dubs because either the terrible voice acting or because it's cool to hate America and praise Japan. I understand the voice acting part because some dubs are terrible not all just some. But hating dubs because America sucks and Japan is better is kinda sad and pathetic. I'm glad there is a minority but the majority just overshadows them.

What do you think dub haters and lovers?

Enjoy!!!

PS: I typed this on my phone. The last thread was messed up so I got it closed. Sorry.

I have no issues with dubs. They're good for if you wanna watch and eat or watch with friends an that.
Dont see the problem with having choice. I prefer subs but i have watched alot dubbed over the years also.

I prefer subs over dubs but I would never talk down or talk shit to people that enjoy dub. I consider those people to have some kind of elitism.

The reason I have seen people raise in the past is a concern that money that CR is spending on dubs is money that could (and should) be spent on more subbed shows instead.

But, dubs are popular--I've seen lots of requests from users wanting dubs, and have seen people end their trial membership and leave CR when they found out how slim the dub pickings were. So, with CR competing with Funimation who has lots of them, it's understandable that CR would have been trying to ramp up on getting dubs as a way to stay more competitive.

Of course right now the issue isn't really very relevant. It's clear from the partnership announcement that CR will be primarily doing subs--and getting more shows, and Funi will be primarily doing dubs and home video.

I mean, more content is always good whether it is dub or sub.

I don't mind dubs at all. The more the merrier really which is what I don't understand why some people would abhor it.

I prefer dubs. Mainly because I hate reading while I watching something.

I prefer Subs, but I have no issue with CR adding English and other language Dubs.

I guess it really depends on how much it's costing them (if anything). I mean, I can't see myself ever watching a dub unless I have to but I have no issues with dubs being on the site especially if it means more people will get to enjoy series that I have already enjoyed in sub format. That said, if them getting a dub of something means they don't have the ability/money/time/etc. to get a sub of something else then, sorry, but they should have focused on getting the sub.

"because it's cool to hate America and praise Japan."
"hating dubs because America sucks"

I have never heard anyone have that reasoning when talking down subs. I've heard the whole "original language" thing, which makes more sense, but I've never heard it as a national hate thing.

That said, I'm not a fan of dubs myself, I think they are inherently artistically less valuable with the exception of cases where people have connected with that aspect, in the case of say, Dragonball Z and others.
Really it doesn't make sense to hate dubs in this context because no one has to watch them.

I don't like dubs but I have no problem with other people watching them. That said, if more dubs means less subs, I'll have a bit of a problem with that. If a show doesn't get a sub, it may never get anything in the way of an official translation, whereas usually dubs are for shows that are popular so there will (almost) always be another way to watch.

I think it depends on how Japanese the show is. I wouldn't mind watching something like 91 days but something that's more immersed in Japanese popular culture doesn't blend well with dubs.

I prefer subs too, but as long as there's an option for both I couldn't care less. I've only found a few English dubs that weren't bad (I grew up watching Bleach dubs on Cartoon Network, so that was the standard for me), but most are pretty horrible. The English voice actors all sound alike and like they're not really able to get into character and emote like the Japanese can. I find myself cracking up just from the voices alone on the Japanese side, but English voices just sound grating to me in anime now. Maybe as the demand for English dubs grows, the quality of the voice actors will follow suit, and then the problem will be closer to being solved.
