It really depends on the Studio and production behind the dub that usually makes or breaks a dub, so it depends on the anime really. Sometimes I actually prefer the dub, but I usually find that's just because I'm used to it because that is how I saw those certain anime first. I think that's why a lot of people are so critical of anime dubs, which is totally understandable. However, I find it a bit close minded to instantly complain that Crunchyroll is just adding the ability to watch dubbed anime. It's an expansion, if anything else.

Now , if they were literally replacing the subs, that would be a problem. However, It's nice to at least have the option. I find it is a way to make anime more accessible to people, who might have terrible eyesight for example, or stubborn people who refuse to read subtitles. While the last is a silly complaint, it's very common. So it really works out for Crunchyroll and the consumer.

tl;dr: Crunchyroll is not taking subs away from you, they are simply giving people the option for the dub. I don't really see why this would be an issue unless the subs were being removed in replacement for the dub.

Dubbed anime use to be really bad, and old anime that was dubbed, well it is still bad. Voice acting for anime has gotten a lot better. Those who think its terrible either hasn't watched recently dubbed anime, has it set in their head that is bad, or comes across those voice actors that are still bad. There are still some poor voice acting in dubbed anime.

Like the western or southern accent in an asian cultured anime, just doesn't belong. Why, why did you do something so dumb?

Sometimes though Dubbed anime is done so well, they add to the anime.

Yes there are schools for voice acting in America....it's called acting, maybe radio, who knows, but it existed before movie acting and never stopped existing.

That said, most anime is better subbed and not dubbed. Some anime, and its rare is better dubbed than subbed. Most anime is good subbed or dubbed, so it is really just a manner of preference for most.

I actually stopped my subscription with Crunchyroll because of a lack of dubbed titles, so it's true, some like me want to see more dubbed anime. I still watch shows here, just late and with commercials. I would like Crunchyroll to carry more dubbed anime, not the bad ones.

Dubbed titles are probably preventing Crunchyroll from getting more Subbed titled anime, usually different companies own the rights to them. But if that is an issue, man are you selfish. For the subscription fee and the selection of anime, drama, and manga titles they make available to us, it's a great price.

Yes...finally dubs! I don't really trust subs anymore after watching several translations or should I say interpretations. Come on you know that their is no way they said what is in those subs! The best part of dubs is they make it understandable for our culture instead of straight translation. How many times have you read a sub and you say -What? Just keep the voices the same please!!!!!!

Why do you highly doubt that?? I was watching anime in Japanese when I was 5. (Back then we had to trade vhs tapes to get it...) My kids have watched anime in Japanese their whole lives.

Of course not. Look some people are never going to like subs and that is fine, the point is spreading the medium of anime.
Personally I prefer most, but not all subs over dubs (i.e. FMA Alchemist:Brotherhood great exception), but you are never going to grow the number of casual anime watchers with a purist mentality.

The term open-air school comes to mind in lieu of the word field trip. I've seen that one in multiple translations. I'm always like, well yes technically I get what your saying, but seriously? lol

That is quite impressive, all things considered. I merely meant it as a generalization, however. I didn't really have the opportunity to become exposed to different cultures through my own parents, so it was something that I had to cultivate on my own. I think that is wonderful that you had such opportunities! Of course, when (or if) I have children one day, I would like to expose them to cultures beyond the world they live in through anime and much more. I think that is awesome that you have done that for your children!

I don't give a shit. They're not forcing me to watch dubs nor do I automatically dislike dubs. Dubs have been increasing in quality over time too. If you like dubs, good for you. If you hate the fact crunchyroll is getting dubs... m8 go watch your subbed anime and leave the dubs alone. lol

Personally I dont like DUBs, but i know a few people who do. Having DUB and SUB versions isnt that bad. Pick and Choose.

No it doesn't bother me, that's silly, why would it.. were I a part of the subbed master race I'd quibble over the loss of CR's purity or something?

By the way, I enjoy dubs AND subs equally but probably dubs a little bit more.

I have no issue with dubs, as long as subs are available as well.

If there is only dubs available, I expect & advocate the business equivalent of unleashing the four horsemen of the apocalypse, in fact I'd probably volunteer to be one.
