I didn't feel much emotion watching sao, I guess it is cause I am a hardened key/visual arts warrior.

Oh the temptation to link Digibro's long rant on everything wrong with this show. Not that it stopped the show being popular or similar power fantasy shows being popular including one that is extremely popular right now. The simple writing and waifus are easy to like I guess just throw in some death and people will think it's the best anime of all time. SAO is just the worst of the worst.

^ Yeah, we need no random bloke rambling off about something linked here. From what pops up in my notification box (for absolutely no reason at all, thanks YT) the guy is pretty crap himself. ;)

Yeah, there are some sad scenes in SAO. There are definitely scenes that will cause you to feel sad.

However, this doesn't warrant a new topic. Post this in the existing SAO thread.

That's fine. It tugged my heart strings when I first watched it too, I get a lot of nostalgia rewatching some of the episodes... good times.

I couldn't take the show seriously at any point because of the combination of how serious it was trying to be and how corny it was actually coming off as.

I'm surprised people were actually able to feel something through all those fields of corn. I mean Asuna escaping in part 2 would have been something good... but then we get tentacle porn right after. Sugou layed the creepy rapist routine on way too hard, it was just silly. And Kayaba had zero character development and his motive was completely unclear.

I mean it wasn't a boring show, so I wont say its bad. I just don't understand how anyone could take anything in it seriously.

I can always expect to find you in a SAO thread!

I can't believe you finished Sao, but couldn't finish Re:Zero. I don't get you Jing!

You see this is the problem with the the forums here, once something is pushed back too far it's pretty much lost for good.

Those were sad moments. I only cried at episode 25 where yet again, my favourite character dies.

I guess I enjoyed the silliness of SAO. It was a magnificent piece of shit. I enjoyed it's shittiness. What kind of irks me though, is when people say it wasn't shit. Because it was, it was just entertaining shit.

With Re:Zero, I got bored I guess because at episode 9 or so, which is the last episode I watched, I just couldn't really like too many of the characters. Subaru was annoying, and Emilia was bland, and I had no idea where the story was going with anything. I should probably force myself to watch past that point. I can't call it a bad show, just not for me.

Well I guess that's fair haha. We'll just have to agree to disagree on SAO.

And ya for sure, I got no qualms with that, we all have different tastes here, I just thought you in particular would have enjoyed Re:Zero. I think you'd like the second half a lot more. First half is more of an introduction, but it has tons of foreshadow that you'll appreciate later and that second half really challenges Subaru on every level. I think you should give it another chance.

Don't watch clannad or grave of the fire flies then, you'll probably just kill yourself of sadness.

I watched the first season of Clannad and I shed a couple of tears in almost half of the episodes. I knew the second season is a thousand times more emotional than the first, so I was afraid of watching it (I still haven't, even after being spoiled )

But damn man, I will be honest here, I literally got depressed for over a day after watching Grave of the Fireflies. I don't remember crying that much in any other anime/movie/tv show. it's the saddest tv show I've ever watched.
EDIT: It's on the same level of The Pianist, Marley and Me,Les Miserábles and The Fox and the Hound
