Hi guys! Recently I've been in the mood for a specific type of anime, not really sure how to look for it, so I'm hoping people here can recommend something.

The topic is girl is bullied for being (i.e. fat, ugly, nerdy, etc.) but later becomes really pretty. So it's around the genre of girl empowerment? Redemption (but NOT in like "I lost the game so I need to redeem myself" kind of thing).

Still not exactly sure what I'm looking for, just exploring. So something with feels (without the tragic death thank you very much), high school based (or school in general), and romance.

I hope this sparks something. Thanks!

This one has less to do with a makeover and more to do with slice of life

Nothing exact comes to mind but these ones are loosely similar:

Yamato Nadeshiko Shichihenge
Kimi ni Todoke (doesn't really have a redemption anywhere but meh, somehow came to mind)
Kuragehime

None of these are very dramatic with a lot of feels and only have slight romance in them expect for Kimi ni Todoke I guess. Still would recommend all of them if you haven't seen and don't know what to watch.

Kuragehime is good, but I can't think of anything else that really comes close to what you're looking for. Have you seen Cardcaptor Sakura? It's available subbed and dubbed here, avoid the dub. Maybe try The Rolling Girls for girl empowerment. Also check out R.O.D, Princess Arete (anime film) and Little Witch Academia (2 short films and planned series).

Otherwise, you might want to look into Korean dramas instead...

Kimi ni Todoke: Outcast girl (she's very shy and looks scary) becomes closer to classmates, through the help of boy.
Say "I Love You": Outcast girl (plain looking, purposefully keeps people at a distance) starts going out with popular boy.
Kotoura-San: Psychic with no friends is befriended by class idiot at her new school.
Maid-Sama: Tough-as-nails student council prez secretly works at maid cafe; popular boy finds out.
My Little Monster: Bookish, stand-offish girl gets involved with delinquent boy; both start to make friends as a result.
Hanasaku Iroha: Tomboy has childhood friend confess to her, just as she moves away from Tokyo to work at her strict grandma's rural inn.
Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions: Girl who lives out her delusional fantasies moves in next door to boy who just got over his own similar phase--and is trying to reset his social life at a new school.
