It's nothing new. I went to an all girls secondary school. I spent my holidays at holiday camp with boys and girls when I wasn't at home or with family. With sufficient socialising time(clubs, projects etc) with all genders included there shouldn't be a problem. I think it'd be best streaming classes accordingly but keeping all the children in one school instead of having a whole separate school for boys or girls.

I find it funny that people start equating this with racism. It's not even remotely similar. When you have a bunch of high school age kids acting like idiots to impress girls, you might want to separate them. I don't agree with it that much though.

That would also cut down on the ever prevalent problem of cooties!

they did this in my Highschool and personally I thought it was awful. All the teachers where always incredibly harsh towards the boy"s classes because they expected us to be more rowdy. And the girls' classes they where to relaxed, to the point where they would just leave the class. also, when there where classes that where not gender separated, everyone would get really worked up because they didn't know how to work productively with the other gender around them. Terrible preparation for everything after the school imo.

Give each kid a separate dog crate to sit in for the whole day. Line it with newspaper and you eliminate bathroom breaks.

I'm against it since in the real world people are going to have to work with both men and women in the work place. Even if they make small academic gains social and interpersonal skills will suffer.

Now if a private school wants to do that, that's their choice.

huh, i always thought that less stress on testing and more emphasis on actual teaching and lowering the huge amount of homework kids have would result in "improved behavior, interest expression, attendance, scholastic success, and general well-being"

but im just a teacher, what do i know

Well, yes. Of course actually teaching these little buggers would improve all of those things, but that's tedious and expensive and little Juanita might learn something his parents take offense to.

In seriousness, the articles I was reading did mention that, since parents have to opt-in, in writing, to these single sex classrooms, the parents actually tend to become more involved in the whole process, and it was suggested that this might be a contributing factor.

Absolutely nothing because if you knew more you'd know that more standardized teaching creates better classrooms. Well, at least that's what my standardized test creating lobbyist just told me .

Yes, 100%. Now i don't mean to say all teachers suck, but my bio teacher told my class and i quote, "You really need to take charge of your education..." Basially saying, watch online lectures and take notes on them, do giant packets for homework, and they pay attention to my long lecture on one of the videos you watched OR do a 10 minuet lab while I sit at his desk... And this guy used to teach at Clemson :/
