insert joke about not having spandex in it here

Now the expected joke is out of the way, legit rant coming through.
I used to adore power rangers. I started watching just as it was really getting camp (Time Force/Wild Force), and it was brilliant. It was cheesy enough so kids kids knew it wasn't real but just good enough to keep their imaginations going. Even if it has been getting mediocre over the years, it's still clearly got a good following.

However, the new design zords were revealed today To put it bluntly, they look like someone cut up some radiators, stuck pieces together and then duct-taped sheets of metal over it. Either that, or just metal welded together with no proper form.

Now, I've got a younger brother. He's about 2 years old (give or take 3 months ) I know that by the time the movie comes out, he'll be old enough to watch it. At least, I hope he is... Anyway, the truth is, I've always wanted to see whatever they reboot it into because I grew up with it, but, well, I'm not so sure anymore. The more I see of it, the worse and worse it looks. The suit designs make them look like a bad Predator cosplay, Rita Repulsa looks like a badly designed alien milf, and I've already talked about the zords so I don't think I need to mention them again.

But overall, the new look just isn't clicking with me at all. It looks like they're trying to turn an 20 year old Ford into a Ferrari - they can try all they like, but it's just not gonna make the cut. Here's for hoping for a mediocre movie, becauuse at least then we could forget it.

Quick side edit - upon looking at the images again, they do look vague like animals (well, the yellow and black zord anyway). Point still stnads though, they look way too "edgy" and not... smooth enough.

PR was supposed to be cheesy and camp, not edgy and cool.

Whole pitch of the movie so far is very "Breakfast Club" + Superhero so far. It's not a bad way to go.

Not a fan of the suits though

I've seen Power Rangers since the first episode aired on TV. I watched the show growing up as kid all the way up until Lost Galaxy/Light Speed Rescue seasons...which is right around the time you just started watching it. And it was cheesy, it was fun, it was entertaining for me to watch. I actually enjoy the new Power Rangers Reboot, it looks cool, looks different, and I'll definitely watch it. I like that it's different, I don't understand why half of the kids are getting bullied, but you cant expect them to stick to the original cheesy formula from 1993 and expect it to hold up in today's day and age...lol

It's called a reboot for a reason, some things will change. Look at Batman, that shit was campy for years, and little by little the tone of the movie changed, and The Dark Knight hit and majority of the people praised the film. We'll see how the movie goes, but for me, I like it so far. It can't be as bad as the Ghostbuster's reboot...when I saw the trailer for that, that was cringe worthy...

I don't think PR was made to meet a deadline though.

Right now I think that I'll be waiting for this one to hit Netflix. I do not see myself going to the movie theater to see it.
