Back in the day Toonami jetsream launched online and I was looking forward to watching the usuals like dbz ruroni kenshin etc. It really wasn't what I expected but I got hooked anyway. but these were dubs.
I started watching subs after naruto went off the air on cartoon network and I really loved that show as well as yu yu hakasho. Can't say I feel the same way for bobobo bo bobobo

I started watching anime when I was seven. So around that time, to be it was just dubbed episodes that was shown on t.v. Seven year old me, just really loved the art, and wanted a life like Sakura, from CardCaptors. It was an magic type of world, and I wanted that.

Youtube recommendations basically. It's a little more involved and boring than that, but it really boils down to whatever algorithm youtube uses to throw vids at people.

I discovered it in full when I was depressed, and numbed to most of my emotions. On the bright side, it also helped me get out of the depression and regain the ability to cry.

(As a man, and someone who people often looked up to, I felt pressured to not cry and eventually stopped having any emotion aside from anger altogether)

I wish I could go back and keep myself from starting on the great-grandparents of the generic harem trash we have today, and maybe start on something else.

My older brother really liked it, so being an annoying little kid I copied him. That would have been around 7 years ago. That was how I first found out what it was but didn't really watch much. I picked anime back up again about 4 years ago and actually found out I really liked it. And now here I am.

I started my junior year of high school barely watching any. I didn't actually go fully into it until I graduated because I had no friends to talk to after graduation and it kept me entertained.

I officially started watching probably around 4 when I first watched Voltron. It didn't really click with me what the difference was until I watched Akira about a year later.

After watching that and a bunch of other anime movies once featured on Sci-fi channel, I realized these cartoons were pretty different than what was shown at the time. I was hooked on the art style and how much more violent they were. I probably shouldn't have watch that stuff as a kid...

well i would watch digimon, dbz, pokemon and yugioh as a kid. but they were mixed into the cartoons i watched. didnt know about them originating in japan or anything.

it was at age 13, few months before 14, yugioh gx season 3 was airing on the tv. loved it. had only watched the original yugioh prior. when it got to a certain point, it kept reseting to the begining of season 3. then added a few new eps on. (as they were dubbed, but didn't realise this at the time) it took about 3 re-runs, with 1 or 2 eps airing each day before i was getting sick of waiting.

by this point i was browsing youtube. on the front page, one of the recomended was a yugioh gx episode.(don't know how it was in recommended)
clicked on it and was amazed a whole episode was on the internet. the episodes went a bit beyond what i'd seen. but then... there were still more eps only not in english. i didn't understand why they were in japanese, until i looked it up. so i watched on as it was subbed. the music was different so it weirded me out a bit and it was so much more serious. came as a shock. yugioh gx hadn't finished airing in japanese at the time either so i waited each week for the next one.

the person who was posting these vids, had also put up an amv of deathnote. i decided to check out this deathnote. following comments onto other shows and thus my anime addiction began.

atage 19ish i stopped watching as much and turned to games. as the friend i had made was a huge gaming fan, and i wanted to share the same interests. anime took a back seat as i became a gaming adict.
now i'm more in the middle.
