Base off a novel that I am working on.

Here's a scenario:

Let's say you are sixteen years old. Your mother and father are going on a long trip together with out you. So you are forced to live with your grandmother that you never met. When you meet your grandmother, you soon learn that she is the monarch of the nation you live in. But instead of making you a prince or princess, you are forced to work as a servant. The reason being is because your grandmother disowned your mother when she married a prince of an enemy nation and they both gave up their royal titles to live the common life and have you. Your grandmother refuses to acknowledge you as her grandchild but was kind enough to let you live in the palace. So you have to work as a servant until your parents come back from their long trip.

How do you respond to this situation? Do you accept being a servant? Or beg your grandmother to make you a member of royalty? Do you stay at the palace or go back home somehow? Tell me your thoughts on this.

Enjoy!!!

Call social services because my parents left me alone with a non-family member I have never met.

Not one iota of this situation makes enough sense to exist outside of fetish erotica.

So its Princess Diaries X Cinderella, so are you going more Princess Diaries where the grandmother is a wise old lady with a lesson to teach her grand son/daughter or more Cinderella where she is a mean old bitch and more or less just an obstacle to be overcome so we can get a happy ending?

Also why would the parents leave their child with someone who has disowned them with a chip on their shoulder? They're royalty for a whole other country and can obviously afford to leave their 16 year old with their dozens if not hundred of butlers/maids?

In my story, Avangelina's(main character) parents are commoners and Majandra(Avangelina's mother) called her mother out of the blue to ask a favor. Marlinda(Avangelina's grandmother) could have ignored Majandra and said no but she decided to some act of kindness and take Avangelina in.

To be honest, I don't know what route I'll go with. I might go with Princess Dairies maybe. Until then I just want to finish it.

Why would the grandmother want to look after the child of her disowned daughter?. (Never mind, I see you answered that on the post above mine ^^)

Well I wouldn't want to stay with my grandmother who refuses to acknowledge me as her grandchild, let alone be her servant. To me that is not my grandmother but just a stranger. I'd try and leave somehow and return home.

Basically what I was going to say, but I guess the time setting matters--anything pre-modern and I would be coercing other servants/peasants/serfs/slaves into poisoning or causing "accidents" for the line of succession until it got down to me, promising them land, wealth and status in return... and then have them promptly executed to silence them.

Because she is showing a small act of kindness.
