I make it clear that I'm not 'theirs'
Saying like 'you're mine and mine alone' is fine with me but for the most part I make it clear to them if I feel they're too controlling

I think it goes both ways honestly; there are also very controlling girlfriends out there. I think a lot of it depends on the personality types of the boyfriend and the girlfriend.

Just like women like to control their men.

Like seriously, what can you possibly mean by men who control women

I have a sister in law who basically keeps my brother on a very tight leash. Poor soul basically can't go outside without a permission slip Works both way just saying.

That being said if I were in a relationship with a gf who was overly controlling I'd swiftly dump her, I'm not willing to put up with stuff like that for that long.

It depends. There's control due to power, insecurity, or fear. It's up to the 2 of them to decide which is the factor and decide whether to work through it or get away from it. Clearly, the one for power is the most toxic, but the other 2 can become toxic over time.

Guys aren't the only ones that do it btw.

It's usually because they lack the feeling of control in themselves. You want to feel like you have some sort of power..and that's when they take the person the "love" and treat them as something to control. I've learned to be strong and nip that shit right at the first sign.

Wynter hit the nail on the head. My ex was a controlling bastard, and once I left, his life spiraled out of control. Never looked back, and never let someone do that to me since. I learned to recognize the signs very early on.

Confucius say, "Most men have dick. Some men are dick."

As others have said, it's typically a sign of insecurity, and a rather unfortunately common one it seems.

I don't. Relationships are a 2 way street. without that understanding it will not last. or worse one of the two will be very unhappy

You're supposed to challenge each other in a relationship. If you want to control something, might as well get a dog.
