An error comes up saying that I can't cancel my trial while my payment method is being validated or something similar.
I have two problems with this: 1> the payment method has already been validated or I wouldn't have been granted access. 2> Why would it matter if the payment method is valid or not if I'm canceling it?

This seems more like a ploy to see if I forget to cancel my trial within the 14 days so the company can charge me.

Click on support... somewhere in that mess you can find a live chat option with customer support. I can't remember where.

This happened to me as well but with a guest pass so I highly doubt it's Crunchyroll trying to get a payment from you. Fixed this issue by contacting support just as Xxanthar has suggested.

I've moved this to Site Support.

Note that even after the initial 24 hour period during which your payment method is being validated, if you cancel a trial membership, membership benefits would end immediately. That's pretty standard to have trial periods autoroll into paid memberships, and that canceling would take effect immediately since in essence you've said "I've tried it; I don't want it."

My complaint is that obviously my payment was validated because I have an account. Making me wait 24 hours to cancel it is a little shady.

I dunno. Doesn't strike me as "shady." More like, "a little behind the times in terms of keeping up with technology and best practices/processes."

So you've already decided you don't like the service?

Keep in mind CR isn't a case of "Cancel the trial right away, and use the remaining time", but rather, "Cancel the trial, and you're back to being non-premium"
