I like the idea. G.D. will be quiet for a little bit, but those of us not interested could blather about other stuff without it getting lost in the noise.

I think it would just make more work for mods trying to decide what is and is not political. Moreover, the political traffic is up thanks to the election. Post November, the political threads will be less frequent.

This is true, but another the is the ED. Boards can be added and removed as needed.

To be politically incorrect, that would be a good idea since literature like anime and manga have a huge influence on political worldview. The Capitalists, in their political correctness, always try to enforce the simplistic magical girl logic by telling people not to 'bring politics' into anime communities even when they are always enforcing the Capitalist delusion in anime communities. Although the Capitalists cannot explain why they themselves are in anime communities despite claiming that anime have no relation to politics, the Capitalists always put the 'political' label on any posts which expose the Capitalist brainwashing in (mostly old) anime like Sailor Moon, Digimon, Yu-gi-oh, and Mahou Sensou. It is interesting to note that political correctness work by using some fantasy logic from animations targeted toward kids...

I don't really care much. I tend to avoid political boards ANYWHERE on the internet because some people get way too rude. I will chat about politics any day face to face, but not on the web.

But to answer your question, I think a separate board for more serious topics wouldn't be a bad idea. Anyone who doesn't want to take part just wouldn't need to look at those threads.

I'd say the issue with this is that you are fracturing the amount of people who will go to GD and the Politics forum. Its possible that the Politics forum would shrivel up and die. Kinda like how Qualeshia sometimes posts threads about writing around here, gets like 10 responses and then her post gets moved to Creative Corner and maybe gets one.

Another great point. Right now though, politics seems to be a hot topic. As seen with ED boards can be added, and then removed should the need arise.

I expect politics to continue to be a trend we see in GD even after the election, as a greater sense of political awareness seems to be growing.

I think it would just make people make even more of a mess and spam empty bait threads.

Political threads tend to start as or de-evolve into dumpster fires in recent months. Putting them all in one place could end up rather terrifying.

I like the idea. That way the people who want to argue endlessly about that crap can do so without junking up the GD board.

XD

People were pissed about Obama, about Bush Jr., and about Clinton. The half that didn't win is always pissed. Maybe if Trump actually gets into office it'll be outrage of the week, but it'll be relegated to one or two threads a week at most.

It's election season. naturally there will be lots of political discussions.

I propose a "Care Bear" forum for all the easily triggered and sensitive snowflakes. The only thing allowed to be discussed will be the weather.

If its Trump it'll be daily. It's already daily and I doubt becoming president would make turn it down a notch. Heck, if he wins you may as well just put cameras in the White House and let us all watch the season finale of the reality TV show half the electorate seems to think this is. >.>

I mean if not for the threat of global destabilization I would totally watch that. Is there some way we can convince Trump he's president without electing him? Like could we tell him he won but then tell him we have to whisk him away to a safe location because of all the haters and the losers? Send him off to a mansion on an island somewhere full of hidden cameras. Then we can send him daily briefings and ask for his decisions on fictional world events. Introduce actors as various foreign dignitaries ( its not like he would know otherwise ).

Then maybe for the season finale we could find a Putin impersonator to live with him for a week. Tell him Putin is hiding out and needs his advice on how to make Russia great again. They could trade stories of manly bravado over 3am gas station burritos while watching reruns of The Nanny.
