Shirobako was surprisingly freakin' awesome. It had literally been a decade since I last watched a 24 episode anime in that short a time period.

Your Lie in April

Oh and if you look in the popular shows tab and ignore the ones from this season being simulcasted, most of the anime there are really good.

JoJo, Gintama, HxH. I'd say Mushishi except that CR only has the second season. Maybe that will change with their Funi partnership.

I'mma stick to things other people would probably NOT recommend, some because they're kind of niche, others because they're just obscure.

"Chu-Bra" is about little girls and underwear. If that does not immediately appeal to you, then you will like this anime. If it DID immediately appeal to you, you're going to be disappointed. It is literally a series about little girls and underwear... for people who do not want to watch a series about little girls and underwear. I can't imagine it was very popular, but it IS very good.

"Bokurano" is an older anime that does the "giant robot" thing almost exactly the way I like it. Most modern anime don't. There's like, a real story, and the character have real personalities... it's really cool. Plus the opening theme is just unbelievably beautiful. The layers of mystery that open up are really fascinating, although much of the reveal is kind of predictable because the tropes are well-established now.

"Flowers of Evil" is apparently rotoscoped in the style of late-1970s Ralph Bakshi. It's not especially great as a story, but it's a type of story that's rarely told, and if you're interested in animation as an art form it is well worth your time.

"The Perfect Insider" is another older anime with an underlying mystery. Great opening animation sequence, too. Kind of dated, but fun to watch and pretty smartly done, again with extra benefit if you like "anime as art."

"Girl's High" was a blast to watch. Plus I'm just hopelessly in love with Akari Kouda. But I'm kind of weird and enjoy almost any slice-of-life thing about teenage girls; GH is, in my opinion, one of the better ones.

Let me know if any of these appeal to you. If not, tell me what doesn't appeal to you about them, and I might be able to pivot my recommendations in a more productive direction.

Mr. Osomatsu, if you like utter nonsense comedy.
