Okay finally a new characters show up. I am waiting for the other more interesting looking Chosen to appear, most notable the pink haired girl Eri Kanan, I will settle for the emo kid who looks like a male Lucy Loud.

Alright just finished watching episode 4 - it's a really good episode. Rather than dealing with a random infected Digimon, the plot revolves around Cameramon being directly ordered by Leviathan to capture Haru's Applidrive. Seriously... Cameramon is an extremely dangerous opponent, he's like an Orwellian nightmare in the form a Digimon. Cameramon (as the name suggests) is all about spying on people, he hacks into security cameras and smartphones to track Haru wherever he goes in Tokyo. It doesn't take long for Cameramon to use a fake social media post to get the whole population hunting down Haru, while being directed by the countless cameras in the city.

Plus, this episode also revealed something else interesting about the villains. Cameramon was actually working with two humans to try and capture Haru. Not just any humans either but suit wearing 'men-in-black' type government agents; which reminds me of Digimon Tamer's Hypnos goons except without the anti-Digimon agenda. So, that just raises further questions about Leviathan and who has an interest in the villains' victory. Anyway, I can’t wait to find out more.

Lately has actually gotten better. Eri addition to the show has been a breath of fresh air, she is hilarious and more interesting than the milk toast main character, and the rival Rei, yes his back story is generic, but I am starting to like him, though I think they are moving things along kind of quick with him starting to soften up to the others. And the Christmas episode surprised me, Ai is in on everything now, I am not surprised that happened, just surprised on a Christmas episode. Normally Christmas episodes just freeze the plot and not to mess with the status quo.

I love the OP and ED, I wonder in February we will get special OP and ED to promote the next Tri movie.

And is just me or is the afro guy kind a reference to Mr. Satin, this is Toei animation.

Up to now, we learn that Leviathan has a connection with this L Corp (since Mienumon was sitting in the CEO seat), which controls about everything in the world, from idols to fast-food restaurants. (they were dropping hints in the previous episodes)

Those men-in-black from episode 4 must be employees from L Corp. Also they have a mysterious person with an Appli Drive on their side, since who App Fuse Cameramon into Scorpmon at the time.

Doesn't Yujin's eyes seems suspicious at the end of both episode 1 and 13.

Also who's voice is it coming from the Appli Drive?

I've been wondering since episode 12.

Have Leviathan captured other humans other than Rei's brother, but I feel like them capturing one human doesn't seem much, but a whole bunch of humans might be something that they would do, also not too much because that might cause attention, but enough that they would not be noticed under the radar.

Personally, I'm really enjoying the direction that Digimon Universe is going in. The last couple of episodes have really upheld the darker tone that Digimon anime is known for.

It seems that nobody in the show has actually ever met Leviathan but already he's quite a creepy villain. With the way that he abducted Rei's brother and then erased his details from all government registries, as if the he never existed in the first place.

It will be interesting to see what Leviathan actually looks like. I wouldn't be surprised if he turns out to be Leviamon but it could a completely new Digimon.

What is up with Yujin, he is more creepy than Rei, the couple of teams we have seem give this evil look. Perhaps he actually does work for Leviathan, or maybe he is just jealousy that he wasn't chosen. Something is up with that guy, he is the Miss Himekawa of this series.

Episode 16

Well quite a info dump episode, heck we didn't even fight anyone this episode. I thought for sure Timemon was going to be infected, but to my surprise no.

Haru's grandfather he is something else, are you sure he is Haru's grandfather and not Torajirou, he reminds me of Toraijrou than Haru, and Toraijirou's dad is more like Haru than Torajiou. Anyway he is responsible for all this, I don't know if Appmon can have emotions, but when Haru and Minerva, I wonder if she or it will have any emotional seeing her creator's grandson.

Going back in time was kind of cool, but what war was going on in the late 50's? That was in between Korea and Vietnam.

I wonder how long till Haru's mom finds out about all this, I always assumed she would, the on screen parents normally do though not till the second half of the series outside of Savers of course. But now we know this is a family issue, it is only right that she is not left in the dark about this. And what happened to Haru's dad? Maybe they will just never bring it up.

Yes quite an important episode. We learn more about Leviathan and Haru's personal connection to the main villain. Plus, we have new player in this game, so to speak, the AI Minverva which was originally created to help humanity. At last the stakes have been raised; I look forward to seeing the plot move towards some epic confrontations. Of course, we're only at episode 16 of a 50 episode (or more?) story, inevitably the fight against Leviathan is going to be a lot more complicated than it would seem at this early stage.

Also, Timemon is seriously OP. There’s no way to you can beat a guy who stops time in a fair fight. The DigiDestined are going to need an equally OP way of countering Timemon’s abilities and they might just end up breaking reality in the process.

The image during that narration showed several things: soldiers giving the Nazi salute, the Enigma code breaking machine and Alan Turing - famed code breaker and inventor of the Enigma machine. The war Timemon referred to was World War Two, he explained that the war pushed for the development of computing and began the road towards artificial intelligence; it's just that researchers in many fields from around the world couldn’t meet together until World War Two ended.

Episode 17

An Eri episode yay. Eri are always fun, a nice little breather comedy episode.

It had some heart warming moment, Eri meeting one of her fans, and finding what an impact she had on that little girl's life. That room if that wasn't a little girl's room instead of a room a middle age man, that would be so creepy, but when it is an innocent child it is cute.

And Eri was so pumped up, I thought she was going to beat Copypamon all by herself, and I think she did, well Dokamon did. The others lent some support, but they would have won on their own.

So we found another seven code. Meinumon is not good at her job, she just gift wrapped a seven code.

I am glad we are getting more Eri episodes, I rather Eri episode than a Torajirou episode and I know we are going to get some to balance things out. But not next week, next week we might find what is Yujin's deal and why does he give all those evil looks.

Next episode comes out on 2/4 three weeks before the next Tri, if we are getting special OP and ED, next week would be a good week to start, we will see.

Does anyone know if a dub of this show will be made? I was thinking of getting back into digimon with this installment (stopped watching part way through frontier) but to me digimon is one of those things that I can only enjoy with dubbing, prefferably with cheesy dialogue and corny line reads (Same goes for Pokemon or Power Rangers)

Unfortunately there hasn't been any word on when Digimon Universe will receive a dub. With that said, the New York Toy Fair is in a couple of week times. Its possible Digimon Universe might make an appearance if Toei or Saban (if their involved) are ready to show off the new toys for the Western market. But that remains to be seen.

Beyond that you can always catch-up on previous dubbed seasons of Digimon. I don't blame you for stopping at Frontier, it’s honestly my least favourite season of Digimon. Frontier moved away from the core Human/Digimon partnership dynamic and it had serious pacing issues towards the end as well. Still, you can always jump back into the franchise with Digimon: Data Squad (the dub of Digimon Savers) or Digimon Fusion (the dub of Digimon Xros Wars), both of which are excellent anime in their own right.

Hmmm. Hadn't thought about the toy fair, which is surprising since I'm basically addicted to spending money on junk like that. It would make sense to announce the localization there.

I may watch those other two shows (I think I may have seen one episode of Data Squad in syndication or smthn) but that's assuming I have time for that after all the other stuff I need to read/watch so...

If and when they get a dub, I want Cristina Vee to voice Eri and Stephanie Sheh to voice Ai.
