So, people are really quick to say that Batman and the various Robins had inappropriate relationships. I mean, I guess I'll say it. They think Bruce Wayne was a pedophile.

But, they need to stop and think about the situation, for a minute. First, Bruce Wayne's parents died when he was a boy. So, in a very real (but, I mean, entirely fictional) way, he had a normal childhood taken away and understands what it means to be an orphan.

So, he's rich, and sees a talented orphaned youth... I can see him taking the kid in. I feel like it's more of, "Hey, I didn't have a childhood, and I was an orphan like you. So, I'm going to dress you up in a costume, live vicariously through you, and... actually pretty much take any chance you have at a normal childhood in the process... but you'll be rich!"

You know, kind of like Michael Jackson and all that Neverland Ranch business. Except he was the King of Pop, rather than a superhero. And MJ's dad wasn't dead, just an asshole. Also, to be honest, I'm not willing to stake my reputation on the bet that he wasn't a pedophile. But, other than that, exact parallel to Batman and Robin.

Furthermore, can any who sounds like this be a sex offender? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efQ4XtGwNKM

Nevermind, moving on.

Eh.... yeah, my argument just went to hell.

Depends. Homosexuality has long time been an issue of contention within Batman specifically. I think it is a bunch of hooey when we compare 60s from the dark age to now.

Sad to (not) say, it is kind of a dead horse compared to the feminist interpretations of The Killing Joke.

Really? I make a joke...concerning the alleged pedophilia of Batman....that does not concern itself in any way with the sexual preference of the characters, and somehow you get a homosexuality debate out of that.

Jesus Christ.

Sorry, I thought it was related. I was familiar with the Bat x Robin, but it is often taken in a homosexual angle rather than pedophilic, considering Robin is pretty much a man in most renditions.

And here's a page about the various takes on the franchise as a whole.

Annnnnddd.... still missing the point, but we're warmer.

Also, no, Robin was almost always a boy, or at least underage teen. In fact, the only 'man' Robin would be Dick Grayson as Nightwing, after he was grown, and he stopped hanging out with Batman, at that point. That and the movies.

How did I miss the point again? :(

Historically, it has been approach as an issue of homosexual relations rather than pederasty.

Was a fictional character secretly a paedophile? You know, somehow I never really thought to ask.

I did read the OP. I made a remark concerning the nature of Robin's and Bruce's relationship, even linking a page as to what influence my previous remark.

I don't see where I went wrong, but I apologize if I did end up offending you.

I mean come on, I'm PV. I'm known for championing LGBT rights in useless fights on the CR forums.

I grew up watching the old Batman movies from the first one with Michael Keaton as Batman and Jack Nicholson as the Joker in the 1989 film and have watched almost every one that has come out since then. I never saw Batman's relationship with Robin as anything more than a possible father/son relationship between the two of them, sort of like Bruce Wayne wanted to help out Dick Grayson in that respect and help guide him in life. I never saw anything sexual between them, homosexual, pedophile or what. I honestly think that it's dumb for anyone to see their relationship as a pedophile one. I can however see how some people could view it as a homosexual relationship. But, you have to remember that Bruce Wayne did a lot of womanizing as well, so there is that to think about too. Take it as you will, but to me it will always be a father/son relationship in my eyes at most.
